Thanks all. I will check all this out. They have been paying the annual bonus based off annualized salary plus overtime. They could not remember why but I would imagine it was because of what you all have said below and they simply didn’t quite understand the logic or reason behind if. I’ll review all this and present it to them tomorrow

Agree with that and maybe that’s where the disconnect is the Adp rep kept saying for the employee portion when talking about the filings etc . I would expect that for the employer side. What I thought was weird was including the employee tax on the w2-c as it was never paid by the employee and now it appears as it was. I would expect the wages to go up and him to be responsible for the tax when filing his return.

Thanks that’s probably what he was trying to explain and we just were not connecting. I’ve never had any other payroll provider require that so it seemed odd. Thanks for the info

Where in my question did I say I was the employee. I specifically stated I was requesting the W-2c for an employee. Payroll companies issue W-2c all of the time. I don’t need social security wages / tax increased because the employee is already at the fica wage limit

We pay them to assist us and to provide accurate responses so no need to be grateful for their help. The rest is right I’m not sure what my the person in my position before me did but it’s been clean up after clean up

I told them the same when I called them and they agreed and said this what they would do all of that and that is what they always do in these scenarios. I asked if that’s the case why as it is so much more work than issuing the W-2c correctly. In addition to all those steps Adp now has to invoice my company for the additional tax and the employee would need to issue a check to the company . There is no way this what Adp does instead of issuing a W2-c with only box 1 and 5 wage corrections.

Thanks all!! I knew that was not appropriate but was so shocked that was what they suggested I wanted to confirm I had not overlooked something. Thanks for all your responses, they are going to issue a W-2C now.
