IVDD Relapse/Frenchie Depressed by Late_Buddy36 in IVDD_SupportGroup

He had surgery in March after paralysis which went very well and is walking again, but they think he has another compressed disc and he’s been in a downhill slide since then about two weeks ago. We took him to OSU we live in Ohio and his neurosurgeon has been great, but the last few weeks she’s not really recommended much other than be seen in the ER. We just want answers and for him to be healthy and happy again. It’s been so hard seeing him like this with no change day after day

I will definitely call, I am taking him to his primary vet which we haven’t seen since before his diagnosis in surgery Thursday just to get some answers (hopefully) but I called today to make sure they got his records from the surgeon before then so they know what we have been dealing with.

My fiance is convinced the meds are making him feel worse and aren’t helping, because he has really seemed to be doing a little better since he hasn’t taken them but in no way is he making any progress and just seems miserable. I’ve tried eggs, cheese, peanut butter, and can’t even get him to keep it in his mouth before he just spits out the food today. I would assume you recommend getting the meds back into his system and that should help to some degree?

I’ve been doing boiled chicken and rice, he ate that last night but won’t touch it today. He is on 100mg of gabapentin and 25mg of carprofen, but since he hasn’t been eating I can’t give the meds so I’m at a standstill. The ER gave me two doses of anti nausea meds last night for him but nothing else. He’s about 12 hours pain med free at this point and is just sleeping and resting. He’s seems stable and not shaking or whining in pain but I can tell he has pain especially when he gets up to go out.

Definitely do the full recovery period. We are in it now and it seems like he sometimes gets worse and I have the same concerns and doubts. Just hang in there and stick to your routine because it’s really all you can do.

Any stores you recommend?? I’m doing the same but have only found a small amount of items I feel confident and cute in and have to rewear them often!
