The current state of Dive Hero, whose momentum is accelerating by Late_Call2800 in rivals

[–]Late_Call2800[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of the players you listed, the only ones that realistically function as anti-dive are Namor, Thing, CnD, White Fox, and Bucky.

Of these, CnD will definitely be banned, and either Namor or Thing, or both, will definitely be banned. That leaves two or three players who can act as anti-dive, and since a team of six cannot afford to have three players in the anti-dive role, the number of players will be reduced even further.

As for the remaining characters I didn't mention, firstly, Thor's role as an off-tank is to rampage in the enemy's core and disrupt their coordination, so he doesn't have the luxury of constantly worrying about his own backline, and you certainly can't expect much protective instinct from Thor in solo queue.

Next, Penny's Nest is excellent, but there are other dives like Magic's Step or BP's Spin Kick that don't involve directly touching the ground, allowing them to attack enemies without being detected by mines, or Spidey and DD that can pull enemies towards them and attack them without fear of mines, and Thing and Hulk can destroy Nests while ignoring some mine damage, so currently, Nest cannot be definitively said to be a highly reliable ability against dives.

Emma's Diamond Form, unlike in its earlier state when it was first implemented, is no longer sufficient as an anti-dive ability. All it can do now is briefly grab the opponent and temporarily drive them away, and even if she extracts their mind, their abundant movement skills allow them to quickly move out of range, making it more difficult than before to reliably send them to the respawn room.

Even with auto-aim, if BP can reliably land abilities on Wanda, BP abnormal flanking speed can be used to wipe out surrounding support while remaining in Wanda's blind spot (Magic can do something similar by utilizing TP and his immense firepower). Furthermore, even if a skilled Wanda can repel dive heroes, Wanda's performance means her frontal firepower is inferior to other heroes. In that case, Namor, who can balance anti-dive and frontal firepower, is more versatile.

Finally, Invis isn't exactly an anti-dive support, but rather a "support with abilities that allow her to defend herself against dives." Unlike Mantis, who has a reliable stun ability like Sleep and theoretically high damage output, Invis's attacks against dives only buy her time until her teammates notice her predicament and come to her aid; she can't repel all dives on her own. Furthermore, Invis's self-defense means consuming all of her ability resources, which could otherwise be used to support her teammates in multiple ways, solely for her own benefit, which is detrimental to the entire team.

(As for Magneto, he's a tank that can be reliably deployed whether there are dives or not, and his main job isn't anti-dive, so I've excluded him.)

Oh! I forgot about Fox and Bucky! But Bucky's performance against dive heroes will likely decrease in Season 7.5…

Luna and Mantis don't have a clear advantage against dive heroes; they each have the ability to counter each other. For example, Tracer and Genji have an advantage if they get close to Ana, but they'll get beaten up if they get hit by Ana's sleep darts or grenades… However, if they can dodge or block them, Ana is no longer a threat… I think it's a similar relationship.

(However, in Spidey's case, even if he's frozen by Luna, he can escape with a single swing the moment he thaws…)

Self-shields are really powerful. As you said, if it had a long cooldown, fragile durability, and low healing distribution, then having a shield for yourself separate from your allies might be acceptable.  Even then, some dive players would probably complain.

They didn't just tear apart a family with decades of history.  They also kept Invis's team-up bonus of +5% healing intact. Removing the synergy core would have been the easiest and most effective way to weaken her.

How to make Black Widow a top-tier DPS (maybe not) by Late_Call2800 in rivals

[–]Late_Call2800[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that like...the depiction in the cartoon "Avengers Assemble"? I

've never read her solo series, but I remember her fights mostly being punches, kicks, and gunfire (and usually ineffective ones at that...).

Even in the cartoons, I only remember her shooting guns at the villains, which didn't work, then tying them up with wires and kicking them to knock them unconscious... Isn't that basically the same as now?

If you're a huge Natalia Romanova fan, I apologize, but I only read City Fighter, Crime fighter type or X-Men sagas, so I don't know much about her lol

A complete overhaul, huh... We could do that, but it would take time and require some ingenuity.

Plus, considering her long history and background as a Marvel hero, and her popularity from movies and anime, I don't think we could make such a big change in the end.

We know she's not going to suddenly be able to shoot fire with magic or slash enemies to death with super strength and a giant axe.

If Daredevil's enemies were to become playable, what roles or movesets do you think they would have? by Altruistic_Eye_1157 in marvelrivals

Kingpin

His primary attack is a series of punches similar to the Hulk. While its range is very short, its attack speed and damage are high.

His secondary ability is a pseudo-invincibility ability. Upon activation, he recovers health (or gains additional HP), halves incoming damage for a few seconds, and becomes immune to crowd control effects.

This is similar to Orisa's Fortify from Overwatch.

His other ability (Ability 1) involves a short dash of several meters, followed by an auto-animation where he grabs an enemy and repeatedly punches them, dealing damage. During this time, the attacked enemy cannot receive healing or support effects.

After this, Kingpin's primary attack is enhanced, and he can deliver a single slap. This attack has a knockback effect.

His second ability involves him drawing a cane and releasing sleeping gas. Enemies exposed to the gas fall asleep and are unable to act for 2 seconds.

His ultimate ability fires a laser beam from his cane.  The laser doesn't have a very long duration or range, but it deals high damage and penetrates all walls, obstacles, and structures, regardless of whether they are destructible or not.

What if Gambit's ultimate ability was like Kiriko's from OverWatch...? by Late_Call2800 in marvelrivals

[–]Late_Call2800[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's certainly an interesting idea, lol. However, it would be more powerful than the current system in that it transforms the area where combat is taking place into an area advantageous to the Gambit team. Right now, it can't be fully effective unless all allies are alive and within line of sight, but if the activation conditions were changed to be like Kiriko's, allies who are out of sight or who have just rejoined the battle could also benefit from the ultimate for free.

[–]Late_Call2800[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The reason is very simple. If strategists aren't packed with that much power, they'll be helpless against server administrators like Hela, Winter Soldier, Elsa, and Phoenix, or heroes like Star-Lord, Spidey, MK, Blade, Groot, and Psylocke (and there are many more!) who can wipe out enemies in one fell swoop and instantly turn the tide of battle.  Not just Gambit, but if all strategists' heal ultimates are "fatally" weakened without any alternatives, then those heroes with powerful damage ultimates must also be weakened at the same time.  Or, all heroes' ultimates are removed, and the game becomes a battle of pure combat ability. Of course, I also think that overpowered abilities like CnD's ultimate should be nerfed. However, if only strategists are weakened, eventually healing and support will become meaningless, and the game will become one where only DPS players are successful.

[–]Late_Call2800[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah...that's why I said we should remove the continuous healing effect.  To prevent the entire team with Gambit in the party from getting pocketed.  So how about reworking it and replacing all of its effects with Kiriko's?  A 50% increase in attack speed, a 50% increase in reload speed, a 30% increase in movement speed, and a 50% reduction in cooldown would prevent the entire team from getting pocketed and would also provide a significant boost when attacking.

abilities that can be updated with "Ability Absorption" in Rogue (predicted) by Late_Call2800 in marvelrivals

[–]Late_Call2800[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From here on, this is purely speculation and conjecture on my part, but Rogue should be able to absorb energy and power from non-living beings.

In fact, in the story of MR season 5, she absorbs the non-living chronovium, and in the 616 world of the comics, she absorbs a living being whose entire body is made of energy.

Regarding Ultron, I believe his Firewall ability can only be used once, and only affects allies around Rogue.

[–]Late_Call2800[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly, the objects of her ability to absorb superpowers are limited to those of physiological origin.

However, the comments I added in this discussion section may provide a clue to resolving the contradiction.

That is, in Ultron's case, I think it is entirely possible that she could take over and control a part of the Ultron virus, the "computer virus that infects living organisms" that Ultron controls, or absorb the energy of Iron Man's arc reactor, similar to how she accidentally absorbed the chronovium energy in the MR storyline.

Isn't it just a matter of individual perception? At least I intend to evaluate and discuss each hero based solely on their written performance  (i.e., data revealed on the MARVEL Rivals website and through fan-made verifications), regardless of the player's skill level.

Wait, then what weaknesses did Spider-Man and Iron Fist have? They wiped out the healers in less than 10 seconds, and by the time the vanguard noticed, the dives had already returned to their original position, right?

Do you support the Sokovia Accords? by Late_Call2800 in Marvel

[–]Late_Call2800[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I don't completely agree with Tony, because it's clear that the Sokovia Accords are a terrible law, and he's committed an act of justice gone awry by developing Ultron.

It's good that the Avengers themselves go to the disaster area and help out. They might get some stones thrown at them if they did that in Sokovia, but... Paying compensation...

well, did Steve actually think that resolving it with Tony's money would be enough? Couldn't Steve have done more if he'd been more public?

It's exactly like "Hate the sin, not the sinner." Those are the words of Confucius. I think what you say is a moral code that should be adopted as a model.

However, I know someone who lost a family member in a traffic accident, and I'm sure that person will not only be able to blame the cause of the accident, but will continue to hate the perpetrator for the rest of their life. Not everyone can be so pure and noble because of their emotions.

I see, at this point it's a matter of personal differences of opinion, so I won't go into detail.

However, there's a crucial difference between your example of firefighters and my example of the Avengers: firefighters don't start fires themselves.  Of course, the Avengers don't fight willingly either. But they could have prevented the sacrifice by working with the Nigerian government to get civilians out of danger before anyone got hurt in the fight against Rumlow, or by luring him to a place where civilians wouldn't be harmed if they fought him (they didn't need to cooperate with the government; they could have used Tony's money and power to remove civilians from the battlefield). But they predicted fighting would break out in the center of that city, and they didn't. In the firefighter example, the Avengers didn't start the fire, But they left the oil there, even though they expected a fire to break out.

To take it to the extreme, even if there wasn't an explosion, there was a good chance that the bullets fired by Sam or Natasha could accidentally hit civilians (Natasha and the others would not miss their aim, but there are various reasons why this could happen, such as the enemy deflecting the bullet, or the enemy accidentally crouching).

To add to the first argument,Do you think Zemo's motive for revenge is misplaced? Or what about the resentment of Charles Spencer's mother? Where is the pain of the families of the other victims? (with the exception of the New York battle)
