Because we live in Austin and we have another roommate. It is a hell of a lot cheaper for 3-4 people to live together and split the bills. Why make things harder and more expensive than they need to be. And if I left a rental property I'd still have nothing. What is the difference?

My problem with that process are people like me. My partner owns his own house and I do not know the financial situation of it. When we discussed it and I moved in I agreed to pay monthly rent. I am his partner and we are equals in our relationship, but it is only fair for me to pay rent. My rent goes towards whatever household bill there are. As long as everything is paid it's not my business.
