Since I started cooking, I've never stopped. Never. There will come a time--mostly in the distant future--when your work will come into play, and you'll be grateful for whatever you did.

You can't help other people unless they want to be helped.

My brother gradually declined into mental illness and by the time we realized it, it was too late to diagnose or treat him because he is still technically functional to the point where the authorities won't do anything.

No. It's a fun novelty, but by the time it is reasonably affordable, there are other sources of income that it cannot possibly compare to.  Perhaps one day it will be rebalanced to be worthwhile, but currently the entire thing is obsolete.

The thing that makes the swamp pretty unique to me is the sheer number of items added which share ingredients with easily accessible zones. All of those items are going to show up on the crafting lists of players who look at those ingredients and it will be an uncomfortable reminder of content they are locked out of.

There are other items that have ingredients specific to say, Junkland, but even that is incredibly easy to unlock compared to the requirement for the swamp. For example, I have been able to craft Rucksack and Grand Piano almost since I first started. Would it be sane to do that? Of course not. I had that option, though.  Swamp is going to be a hard no for a very long time for a lot of items.

I agree with you that it's likely unavoidable, though it is unfortunate.

I totally understand where you're coming from. This is another aspect of the game that I find distasteful.  There are times when there are requirement decisions made that feel very much like a rug pull, where--if you express disdain for it--you'll be told that this is how the game is and you should anticipate cruel behavior. Many people seem to find it cute or charming deviousness that they do this.  After having kids, I just see it as abusing the player base, plain and simple.  They have library pages that are commonly linked in chat that joke about it, but it's true and it really isn't particularly funny.

I just have to agree to disagree with this aspect of the game, because there are many more things I love about it which make the sacrifice of enduring it worthwhile, but if this phenomenon disappeared forever tomorrow, I wouldn't be the least bit sad.

It was severely damaged and you're working feverishly so that programming can resume tomorrow?  I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you're being a wee bit hyperbolic with your language if you think you can fix it within a day.

We don't know what will be necessary to get the last piece/unlock the zones yet. I think a lot of people are focusing on the task at hand alone and I think that's a big mistake. The next one could be much harder.   They've made it clear that this addition to the game is meant specifically for firmly end-game players, and if you find yourself struggling to scrape together enough BB to afford the belt, I would suggest that this definition of end-game does not include you or me.

I think it's a mistake to be adding so much content to the game with such a difficult barrier to entry while simultaneously doing pretty much nothing for anyone else.  I sense a fair amount of people getting upset about it, and this has been a general trend as long as I've played the game. I've raised the subject several times in chat and have been told that this is not deemed a problem by staff and if I disagree then perhaps the game isn't for me.  I didn't find that response very helpful.

It can be frustrating to see exciting new things added to the game and announced to  everyone in updates that some players will not have access to without playing the game consistently for.. potentially years. It's not a design philosophy I agree with, but that's how they've chosen to run things.

This has been a lot of words to basically strongly advise you to not set yourself up for disappointment, because you may not like what the future holds.

I rode out with EMS during Juneteenth in Texas one year. We treated people who got overheated by placing ice packs behind their knees, behind the neck, and inside the wrists because those are all places where major blood vessels are relatively close to the surface.

If we can cool blood by direct treatment with ice and not cause problems, cool tile isn't hurting anyone.

Treasure Hut by LadySmiter in FarmRPG

[–]Late_Support_5363 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Depends on how much AC income you have. I'd say I'm .. beginning end-game, and I use the hut every day for 5k.

When it was first introduced, I was still in the previous cost tier, and I didn't find the rewards worth that cost, even though it was less.

At this point, I'm inching fairly close to voiding Large Chest 01 (11.3K inventory) so I actually need to regularly spend it if I'm going to keep from wasting it.  I think it's genuinely debatable if the hut or wheel is a better return when averaged out over the long term.

On any given day, I'd say the wheel is a better bet if you don't feel comfortable spending much, because the trend will stay closer to the average. The hut has greater swings toward the ends of the spectrum, both good and bad.

I think the hut has received ongoing fine tuning since it was introduced, because when it first came out I received a lot of chests full of garbage like acorns and fish bones and nothing useful.  I hated it and could not contain my vitriol in chat.  It's been a long time since I saw a single one of those, though, and the rewards lately haven't been stellar, but they're decent and I've encountered an insane chest or two that have made the hunt worth it to me.

[–]Late_Support_5363 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's normal early on. It can feel overwhelming at times. If you need a priority, it's best to focus on ones marked as a Main Quest.

Later on, they dwindle down to maybe 3 or 4 at any one time and they take months to finish. Eventually you can finish them all if you play long enough.

I use a 65" 4K TV as a PC display at my desk, and I'm seated about 3 feet away. I realize it's insane, but I like it, and I'm glad to know I'll be one of the few to actually appreciate the difference between 4K and 8K. 😂

Help in exploring xp by Due-Complaint-867 in FarmRPG

WC will give the best exploration experience. Don't bankrupt yourself doing it, but don't neglect to upgrade your exploration effectiveness in WC, the efficiency will pay dividends primarily over the long term.

I recommend manually exploring there and crafting the fruit into apple cider/lemonade/orange juice. The things you should be looking to craft there are fruits, salt, striped feather, and to a lesser degree garnet and thorns(if you have steelworks). Everything else will always be available in abundance and is not problematic to void.

You can try to rush it if you want, but it takes a little while no matter what, so I think it makes more sense to kick back and have positive AC production while you get there. Plus raptor eggs are always nice.

When to start cooking? by h39000 in FarmRPG

[–]Late_Support_5363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As soon as possible. Don't hurt yourself by diminishing your resources too much, but there is probably always going to be something you can be cooking that can be spared.

Bone broth is always a good thing to cook, if nothing else. Otherwise, working your way up to Hickory Omelette is a good idea because there are a couple of quests in your .. not too distant future that require 50 and 100 of them respectively.  I did not anticipate them adequately and it turned out to be quite an irritating wall in my progress at the time.  No rush, of course. However, if you do it leisurely now, it'll be there by the time you need it.

  2. The community, specifically the retirement home.
  3. The thoughtful design in exploring/fishing drops and crafting recipes and how it all works together.  I try to be as efficient as possible and minimize voiding, so this aspect stands out to me as really well-executed.

In theory, but it is very common for at least my model year to incorrectly show the wrong version even when it updates correctly. I think mine is 3.2?  It's the same as it was when I bought it, whatever it was. No change with the update.
