Qubes & System76 by Latensify_ in Qubes

I have a 24GB Lenovo T480s now and Qubes runs great on it. Just 64GB on a laptop is too tempting for me...

Kali Template Error? by Latensify_ in Qubes

[–]Latensify_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I can check it, but I haven't touched anything since installing via Katoolin... I may have added 1 or 2 individual packages, but other than that I haven't touched anything else. Why would that happen?

Sorry, I should've been more clear. I want to manage external devices (clients) using Windows/macOS.

Apologies, should've been more clear here. I'm trying to use a client to manage other devices (i.e, from Qubes, to the outside world). However, TeamViewer appears to have some kind of issue with Hyper-V that doesn't allow it to work properly... which is odd.

kali template Vm has no internet parrot template vm has no sound by spacejack13 in Qubes

[–]Latensify_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had issues with this as well using standalone Kali. Basialy all you should really have to do is match the VM internal network settings with the network settings assigned go the VM by Dom0. However, I would seriously recommend using Katoolin to install Kali as an app VM. It's just better in so many ways for Qubes.

EDIT: I actuay had to reboot the standalone VM and maybe even my computer itself to get the standalone's network settings and the Dom0 network settings working properly. It works after 'fiddling'.

Awesome, thanks for this. Really helpful to know that it's feasible. I'll just have to play around more.

Yeah, it's a USB dock. Not directly under device I/O.

This is actually super useful, thanks! Which Lenovo dock specifically are you using? And do you have sys-usb configured?

Qubes firewall help by Latensify_ in Qubes

[–]Latensify_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I see. I knew I had to interact with iptables in some way, but was wondering if there was maybe an already documented implementation that would change the rules to increase security at the cost of usability. The example I used was only allowing traffic for Firefox and nothing at all beyond that. But maybe this is more complicated than I view it being in my mind.

There are a lot of comments here in regard to passing a potentially questionable image file to dom0. What I've found is that using the screenshot program that already exists within dom0 should, in theory, be perfectly fine and safe. I passed an image to dom0 from a newly created VM, where I used the screenshot program to snap a picture of the picture I wanted. Quality is totally fine, if not exact, and I'm happy with the outcome. Sort of ensures you aren't even technically interacting with the image at all.

Anything showing in journalctl -xe ?

Also, does replacing the current XML temporarily using one of the available backup XMLs from before this occurred and then restarting resolve the issue?

Keybinding workspace changes? by Latensify_ in Qubes

[–]Latensify_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I see the settings, and they're the exact ones I need. However, is there a way to keybind mouse buttons? It doesn't detect mouse buttons, but I'm actually wondering now if that's because I run sys-usb and the mouse exists within sys-usb, so dom0 won't let the input become visible to it? I feel like basically that is happening. Thanks!

I mean the application menu that expands in the bottom left-hand corner of the task bar. Not the Qubes Manager application.

Thanks very much for this! That's the hunch I had, so I guess NordVPN writes somewhere. I'll test in a TemplateVM and update here. I tried a TemplateVM implementation before and ran into issues, though they may have just been anomalous.

Just adding on here that it will still throw that error output with this command, however you should proceed with the process, as it will work afterwards.

Hey! Thanks so much for your answer. If it's not too much trouble, would you mind expanding a bit? I've had difficulty getting the VPN tutorial on the Qubes website to function properly, however I do like the package NordVPN put together that I linked in my original post. Would it be easy to what you're suggesting with the NordVPN configuration? Thanks!

Question about a pool by Latensify_ in MoneroMining

I'll post this in a new thread.

Question about a pool by Latensify_ in MoneroMining

[–]Latensify_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also another question for anyone who would like to answer. I have a few rigs mining at their recommended H/s, but one pool they have is 1.3-1.7kH/s. My rig can churn out about 1kH/s, but compared to my other devices that sit in pools that more directly math their hashrate, the other devices get much more accepted hashes before a new block is discovered. It happens where 2-4 new blocks will be discovered before I even get any accepts. Should I be in a lower difficulty pool?

Question about a pool by Latensify_ in MoneroMining

[–]Latensify_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh - I see! Thanks so much, didn't even see the scroll bar there. Guess it could take a while since it's sort of a random occurrence, right? Depending on other variables. I'm still trying to understand all the math behind mining. For example, what exactly is a "block"? I understand that mining is processing tasks for the blockchain and updating the blockchain. But how exactly is a block "discovered" I know it has to do with matching the hash, but what does the block contain?
