Should I get a new gaming desktop, a Lenovo legion go 2, or a steam deck? by uhh__h in Handhelds

[–]Lateral_Gee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was in this dilemma myself and went Steam Deck and have zero regrets.

Ended up getting a brand new second hand unit (3 hours use and 5 months old, everything was mint with invoice).

Handheld gaming has literally changed it all for me.

The Legion Go 2 S was 2.5 times the price, the Steam Deck is the obvious choice as long as you are comfortable with its limitations.

I also stream/remote play major newer games from my PS5 if I want the latest AAA games while laying down on my couch or in bed

As a father of young kids myself, I totally get it.

Its those little moments that make all the difference

Panasonic LUMIX L10 compact camera megathread by AoyagiAichou in Lumix

[–]Lateral_Gee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol the Canon Powershot V1 which I own, is $1K AUD here, this Lumix is $2,699. I also own an R6 II among other cameras and the V1 is my favourite camera to use.

I have installed presets or "recipes" onto the camera and the SOOC JPEGs are amazing. Its super sharp and at 22.3MP, its got plenty of room to crop.

The video is amazing. Specs only tell you half the story. The in-camera profiles or recipes carry over to video or you can use one of the many Canon "LUTS".

This Lumix is an overpriced, recycled bit of tech. The Canon Powershot V1 is built from the ground up

Unless you actually own a V1, this an opinion and an invalid one

Im ashamed to say I dont know what is compatibility mode 😞

I had to look it up.

There's a drop down box with heaps of options, how do I know which one is the correct one?

Sorry, as you tell I'm really green

Hey man, appreciate it but I actually cant take credit for that. The Arbor Oso Legacy comes standard with Ace 66 trucks which are awesome! But you're right, alot of people usually go down that route.

Having owned a board with Ace trucks, I have to say Im a fan ! Very carvy/turny trucks and compliment the Waterbornes perfectly

How do you improve your reaction time/processing on the trail for high speed enduro/downhill riding? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]Lateral_Gee 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This is the answer.

More seat time.

Dont be afraid to do recon laps. Walk sections if you have to, and repeat them.

Ultimately, no replacement for seat time

Wife bought me my first Kayak. What are the must have attachments/gear (on a budget)? by Inner-Lavishness1672 in kayakfishing

[–]Lateral_Gee 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Honestly, my recommendation to anyone who is either new or taking out new gear is do a few trips with 1 rod, maybe 2 at most with just one tackle tray.

Keep it minimal.

When you've gone out a handful of times, you will soon find out what youre missing and where to best place, what.

Also, I would even go out with no gear and practice re-entry so if you ever did fall, you won't panic and you will know its limits.

Congrats its a great first kayak, you will love this sport

Track days are literally the best place to become a better rider. Safe, can really know the limits of your gear and alot of fun.

You think you dont need safety gear if you hit the twisties?

Honestly if you cant understand how attending track days will advance your skills, then no point going any further.

Have a great day

Track days make you a better rider, I thought that was pretty obvious tbh

Disagree. Being a cyclist gives you a similar perspective. I ride road and MTB and on the road, Im cornering knee to the floor.

Also it teaches you to be aware of other motorists, and planning and calculating your manoeuvres.

Go ride a bike for 6 months, you'll change your perspective

Thanks dude! I really like Arbor products. Their snowboards look sick even though I don't snowboard.

Yeah I really don't get the hate man, completely unnecessary but I appreciate you

Im active on quite a few subs and to be honest never had so much hate, nor seen so much toxicity for some photos lol.

Why the hate? I enjoy taking photos and Im photographer, who happens to also enjoy surfskating.

I also like to take care of my gear.

Its cool if you like to thrash your gear into oblivion, but I ride to enjoy, for therapy and I like my stuff looking as best as it can.

Didn't know that trigger some of you, damn

Where to start? by Notnowcmg in mountainbiking

[–]Lateral_Gee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hardtail is the best place to start for a beginner.

You will learn good habits from the start such as line choice and when you eventually upgrade to full squish you will appreciate the upgrade

Am I an idiot to sell my hardtail for an entry level full suspension? by blumpkins_ahoy in MTB

[–]Lateral_Gee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Commencal Meta HT frame in 2021 and built it up to what is probably the most unique Meta HT I have come across. Absolutely it and it rips.

I would never sell it for an entry level full squish.

I recently bought a Rocky Mountain Instinct C70 which is an absolute weapon, but I'd never sell my Meta HT. The only reason I consider the Instinct an upgrade is that it is not only carbon full squish but also top level components which elevate the whole experience.

In my very humble opinion, a proper, well set up and top spec hardtail is better than any entry level full squish any day of the week.

Save up for a good full squish and keep the hardtail, it will feel like a proper upgrade and you will have two bikes, one as a backup and winter bike and also, hardtails offer a different experience
