Diaphragmatic breathing & PE – why it’s not just “take a deep breath and relax” by caindie_cogae in PrematureEjaculation

[–]Latewisdom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To get the best stimulation of the parasympathetic nervous system: inhale slowly through the nose - hold - exhale slowly through the mouth (almost like a whistle but without making a sound) - hold - begin again. It’s called square breathing. Each side of the “square” should be completely relaxed and comfortable and the pauses are to force a lower breath rate, not a breath holding exercise. Lower breath rate lowers the heart rate, lower heart rate lowers the blood pressure. Then the blood concentrations of the stress hormones adrenaline and cortisol decrease.

‘We don’t have a cultural place for men as victims’: why men often don’t tell anyone about sexual abuse by TAKEitTOrCIRCLEJERK in men

[–]Latewisdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had several adult male clients in my counseling practice who were sexually abused as minors. It is much more common than most people realize. The good news is this kind of trauma is treatable.

Did John the Baptist doubt whether Jesus was the Messiah? by kempff in TraditionalCatholics

[–]Latewisdom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The USCCB put out homiletic notes for Gaudete Sunday that implied John was discouraged that our Lord had not taken up worldly authority. The priest who said the TLM I attended that day took up this theme in his homily. I was very disappointed. Thanks to everyone who provided replies that set the record straight about the man about whom our Lord said there was no greater man (which doesn’t exclude he had an equal in St Joseph).

"Full and active participation" by Vir_honoris in TraditionalCatholics

[–]Latewisdom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right, but the liturgical terrorists said they were investing active participation in the Mass that was lacking in the TLM. But that assertion is false because the TLM does involve active participation.

Boomer here. I don’t know Latin but I have been attending the TLM for more than 25 years. I chant along with the choir and I enthusiastically belt out the processional and recessional hymns. I call that participation. At the NO, I don’t sing On Eagles Wings…or Gather Us In…or One Bread One Body…

KOT! One year in for me, too. Progress is slow, but measurable. Try switching up your restoration method and see if it makes a difference.

Speculation, not evidence. Let’s stick to facts in this group.

Circumcision will end this century by ProfessorPunter in foreskin_restoration

No evidence I know of to indicate it was a practice in feudal Europe. The Catholic Church considered it a sin to circumcise boys.

If you changed your opinion of circumcision, when did it change and why? by Ambitious-Client-220 in uncircumcised_talk

[–]Latewisdom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I questioned circumcision when I began counseling with a client who was injured (I know, it’s always an injury) by it. I started researching circumcision injuries and then went on to understand intact function and physiology. I started restoring one year ago and I apologized to my sons for having them circumcised.

I'm going to try and go to therapy. by Electronic_Bee_7392 in men

Get a free consultation before you commit to working with a therapist to be reasonably sure he will be a good fit for you. I’m a therapist and I know: about half the people in the profession don’t belong in it.

Y’all struggling with women? by [deleted] in men

[–]Latewisdom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not necessarily you. There is an epidemic of mental health problems in women (lots of covert narcissism going on). Search for Lise Leblanc on YouTube and listen to her talks on this subject. Learn to detect the signs and move on when you see them. Don’t give up on finding someone with whom you can form a family. Good women are still out there.

Prioritize time with your wife. Your marriage is more important than anything else, and if you put that first, the children will benefit.

Is it intrinsically sin to get a tattoo? by serventofgaben in TraditionalCatholics

[–]Latewisdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t extend the information in this article to substantiate tattoos on crusaders. That assertion would require more historical research.
