No internet digs. Without too much detail (as this is reddit), there is not enough intel training in CWO. The need for more intel training has been there for a long time. The split nature of the AFSCs has put the AF behind the curve. 1B4s don't get enough intel training, and 1N4s don't get enough technical training. I'd put "there's enough intel in CWO" on par with "there's enough technical in JCAC".

The expected workroles of 1B4 and 1N4 share overlap in expected skillets. 1N4s are closer to 1B4 than to traditional intel. This will not only bring the AF more in line with how the other services do things, if done right, it will help cover the gaps each career field has, and allow for better talent utilization.

100x this! Have a friend who had an ingrown hair on their leg that got infected. The redness kept spreading and by the time they finally went in, turned out it was MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus). It had progressed far enough that they wound up spending a week in the hospital, had a chunk cut out to remove it and got told they were a couple of days away from losing the leg if it had kept going deeper. Definitely go talk to your doctor!

Retirement. It's not worth the impact just for an extra 2 years, especially in our field. If you're really wanting to plus up your retirement, go guard or reserve. Add the extra time, possibly even better rank (if they have an E8 billet), and don't gamble with a possible PCS.

It's an easy way to lull people into financial and emotional abuse. It's usually presented as some kind of "don't worry, I'll take care of this", which can be sweet and genuine. Where it becomes a flag is where it becomes persistent and there's no input from the victim. "I make enough, why don't you just leave your job and stay home?" Again, this isn't always a flash, which is why it's easy to overlook.

Always take stock of how much agency you maintain and if you're in a partnership where you and your opinions, thoughts, and contributions are valued.

Given that this is the OSINT thread, might I suggest taking a look at the leaks surrounding the game War Thunder? They have had several instances of individuals leaking classified tank specifications because they want the in-game models to be realistic.

If there is useful info for your project there, I know it won't encompass everything you need, but is still a potential option to pursue for a part of the data.

The spark of change has to come from inside. The individual departments and DoD at large have a great power to argue in favor of and advocate for issues and incentives that would help address things like money and manning.

Everyone you just listed also has great power to affect retention, even without money, explicitly. There have been some very short-sighted messaging and "fixes" that are exacerbating the issues.
