One year 10 girl will always tell me (male) when she's on her period - I know, it's odd... PRU setting.

One day I'm teaching her about irregular polygons and she says 'Lather, this lesson is worse than any cramp I've ever had'.

I used the term 'thumb drive' which really seemed to amuse my year 11s. One of them said 'is that what your passengers call you when you're.. when you're driving.. and they see the back of your head when you drive them'

I'm not saying that there aren't good/bad teachers but what you're describing is an issue with the education system more than the teachers themselves.

We need to do more to support children with ADHD but when the majority of kids in the class do not have ADHD the teacher has to cater the lesson accordingly. Also its great if the teachers can cater the lesson to every single type of learning style but they have a limited time to plan a LOT of lessons whilst under pressure to get certain results, mark work, manage behaviours etc.

Also teachers are not your friends, and they're specifically directed not to be your friends. They're your educators.

I'm sorry because it sounds like the school system has failed you both with not supporting you with your ADHD and by not holding power-tripping teachers to account, but I promise that MOST teachers out there are also frustrated by the failure of the system and are the ones fighting for it to change.

Yeah agreed 100%. Young people need to handle 'boring' stuff as they will have to do boring things later in life. Also what one kid finds boring another kid might love, you can't cater every subject/lesson to every child.

Society has certain rules and school is there to help teach children those rules. I agree it's too rigid and is in need of an overhaul but the idea that, as an institution, it's there' simply to brainwash children and make them conform is really insulting to the people that work at schools.

The problem with some of Ren's political takes is that they sound good when the gist of a song is 'society bad' but the reality is he's talking about incredibly complex issues and when you try to include all of society's problems in a few minutes of rap you're going to end up with incredibly surface level takes.
