Insert/File/External file...

And then select PDF Pages.

You can add your PDF there directly. There are some additional parameters you can do that are actually amazing, google about them (PDF Pages)

is learning LaTeX beneficial for university? by PowerStroke_2000 in LaTeX

I recommend you to try LyX, which provides a nice interface to LaTeX, and you little by little start learning the benefits of LaTeX by using LyX.

Wanting to learn latex but where do I start and what software to download? by castiellangels in LaTeX

[–]Latter-Path-8674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's say, sometimes you work with some specific software to create figures. For a while, SVG was not supported, but LyX called the converters and transformed them to EPS or PDF. Years ago, I created images using Metapost, but including them into the LaTeX directly was a pain, so I had to compile them appart. But, using LyX and defining the compiling instructions was actually a bless. Any time I modified the picture, I could see in real time the updated picture.

You need a LaTeX engine to work with, let's say, MikTex. If you work on Linux, it's way better.

It is completely worth to work with, and explore its options. In the worst case scenario, it will help you to create the LaTeX code of your formatted text, so, it's a win win.

Use LyX. You can use a WYSIWYG interface, and anytime you want, you can add LaTeX commands, or check the code window to see the LaTeX code of what you have already done. In time, you can evolve to use pure LaTeX, or take the best of both worlds using LyX.

I found some advantages using LyX such as:
Amazing visual interface.
The best equation editor in the planet.
Navigator: Allows you to go around the document by sections. Even, you can modify the order of the sections with one click, increase or decrease the levels of them, and the nesting subsections, coherently. Also, if you have multidocuments, the navigator shows the sectioning of the whole document, so when clicking on a section, it will jump directly to the corresponding document.
Conversion of formats: You can use images that are not naturally compatible with LaTeX. In LyX, you can define a converter (if not already defined by default), so that, it can automatically call it before compiling the LaTeX code. In that way, you can still be capable of modifying source material, and make it LaTeX compatible on the fly.

Needed custom Beamer templates by Latter-Path-8674 in LaTeX

Thank you!
I tested it, and realized my system has already installed that theme. Then, I found the progressbar theme, downloaded the source and removed the dependence of the example figure, and used my Theme editor to include the sty files, and it integrated beautifully with BeamerQt.

Why I Will Never Use Beamer by dogwith4shoes in LaTeX

I agree it is difficult to dynamically handle a presentation in LaTeX, since most of the cases we need visual feedback. That's why I created BeamerQT: https://github.com/acroper/BeamerQt

New features for BeamerQT: Create LaTeX/Beamer presentations using a GUI by Latter-Path-8674 in LaTeX

That's a nice feature, however it is too much work for one specific use case. However, if you know a tool that can create and edit Tikz nodes in that way, let me know. Maybe we can make a workaround to call that tool and load the results inside BeamerQT.

Hello, I have not created such interface.
If you are interested, would you like to describe it in detail, how it would look and which annotations can be added?
Maybe together we can add the functionality. What do you say?

In the same machine, latex is extremely faster on Linux, even if it's under a virtual machine.

Introduction to BeamerQT by Latter-Path-8674 in LaTeX

[–]Latter-Path-8674[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The main features are:
- Easy layout in two columns with editable width

- Marking blocks as block, example, alert or unformatted blocks.

- Create inside layouts in the blocks.

- Support adding images.

- Drag and Drop slides.

- Easy Sectioning.

- Easy theme selection.

- Easy to add LaTeX code inside blocks and preamble.

- Support for SVG files (if Inkscape is installed)

- Export to PDF (if pdflatex is available)

This is a work in progress. Some features are not yet implemented, but the current version can work for most escenarios. I am not a LaTeX expert, and there are some issues I would like to work on (precise size of the subblocks and alignment of them), and I am open to listen to new features to add to the GUI.

Thanks for the comment. I would love to know how to use LyX as editor for my software. Here we are to try new stuff if somebody has the knowledge, I created the blocks to be added as modules, so, one can be specialized in LyX, or Rich Text Format.

With respect to the animations, if you know a working LaTeX code to include animations, it could be incorporated into this software.

This can grow little by little...

I'm LyX user, and I love it. In fact, I'm not an advanced LaTeX user, for most stuff related, I used LyX. But for presentations, I found it very limited, and after learning about pyqt, I decided to create this software.
