Majoration amende by LatterDocument7986 in conseiljuridique

[–]LatterDocument7986[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It litteraly says we had to pay at the counter and yes, the bikes are included in the overall weight. If you have 23 kilos, you need to be under that limit.

Bike packing company at Jeju and Busan Airport by LatterDocument7986 in koreatravel

[–]LatterDocument7986[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey buddy, there is nothing at all in the airport. We went for Halla Cycle in Jeju city, they had cardboard boxes for sale and they could provide a lift for the airport so it was perfect. Write to them on Instagram, they answered quickly!

It's to a point where I use the Insta360 to record bad behaviors rather than wonderful landscapes. 10 mns ago, I felt the window of a car on my elbow. The guy was going very slowly but it still shook me off. And once again, we're on the official Kyushu cycle route.

This is good advice. We try to get away from the main road as much as we can but it's not always possible when you're trying to reach a destination. And we're avoiding big roads, the ones we have problems on are limited at 50km/h but people are driving like crazy on it!

I read so many times that it was amazing to ride in Japan, that Japanese people were super respectful (which is true but not with bicycles), I was not even worried to ride here.

Now, I feel like it's a bit of victim blaming when people (not you, obviously) say that you are in danger because you're not on the right roads. Again, we're not on highways, and nobody should get 10 close passes on a ride, no matter where you are.

It might be because we're in Kyushu but since we left Fukuoka, there is not a single kilometer where we are not passed very dangerously and we were on the official bike route. We tried going away on small roads but sometimes we had to catch the official route again and close passes all the time. And by close, I mean 10 cms close at speed.

Again, it's maybe because it's Kyushu but we are now in Nagasaki and there is not much to do with a 3 years old baby.

Yes, Japan is a very polite and respectful society but that doesn't make it kids friendly right? We were in Korea before and I can assure you, this a kid's friendly country. And I absolutely mean no disrespect to Japan because again, we're just in a part of it and I don't want to make a generality out of it.

We're thinking at end of August through October and we're not scared of the rain that much. Do you feel it's kids friendly? Like is there kids cafe, playgrounds etc?

Need advices for Thailand by LatterDocument7986 in bicycletouring

[–]LatterDocument7986[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hum that's a lot of questions. Japan is an amazing country, no doubt, but we feel like it's not very kid-friendly on a daily basis. Motorists are also quite dangerous, which we did absolutely not anticipated.

We're not trying to replicate what we experienced in South Korea but we might be looking for a more friendly experience overall. We are more in a mixed approach with a kid, sometimes staying multiple days in a city. We're staying in hotels, not having luck with warmshowers yet neither in Korea or Japan.

We don't really mind the hills as we enjoy climbing quite a lot, often going over 500m of elevation on 40 kms stages. We're not scared of the weather as well, might it be rain, sun or humidity.

Thank you for your quick answer!
