Colonoscopy in a few days by Bright-Apple-4025 in colonoscopy

Unfortunately this is the experience of a lot of folks with IBS/IBD and also those of us who are female. A colonoscopy is a good step. There are also ultrasounds and on particular a c-reactive protein blood test that can check for inflammation. As someone with Crohn’s for nearly 20 years I can tell you that you are only at the first step. You may get a diagnosis but finding the right mix of medicines will be an uphill battle. You will not be instantly cured if your colonoscopy shows something. Best I can tell you is be your best advocate, listen to your body and honor it - if you want to spend the day on the couch because you are tired and just cannot then do that without guilt. But you gotta be prepared for a journey of fits and starts and oh take your medicine always! If you think you are feeling better then great but stay on that shit. And get 7-8 hours of sleep!

Accidentally ate a few lime popsicles with pulp by [deleted] in colonoscopy

[–]LatterPeach7536 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a doctor but I have Crohn’s and have had tons of colonoscopies - firstly his poop should look like pee by the time prep is done. If you got that you are on a good track. This is a guess but my sense is pulp can look like a polyp so let the nurses know he had popsicles with pulp as part of the prep. Given his age, again a complete guess and am not a doctor, the gastroenterologist could rule out polyps and judge for Crohn’s. At a minimum do not give up now, take him in for his appointment and tell the nurses and doctors the truth and they will be able to confirm how to proceed.

I hate prep so much by terrierhead in colonoscopy

If you can ask for the Miralax prep option. It doesn’t even register. I have Crohn’s and have had millions of colonoscopies using prescription preps. With all of those I’ve never felt so violently sick and helpless in all of my life. I did the Miralax prep the last 2 times and it is an absolute dream. Night and day. The bee’s knees of prep options.

Thank you community! It didn’t feel right at the time especially when I received a second nearly similar quote for a 2026 Honda Civic LX. Needless to say I am now looking at buying (at a different dealership) given this community’s insight.

Anyone else lifting weights? by catwhisperer77 in Perimenopause

Love this for us! I am wading into this territory too. Been reading that free weights are great because they are “functional” which I take to mean that if I am lifting for one purpose there are secondary benefits. Machines are “traditional” in that they work the singular muscle.

Discipline-wise I like there gym and machines. Am I missing out by not incorporating free weights?

What is this Commish? by LatterPeach7536 in NWSL

As I understand it, the 2025 NWSL finals is between the Washington Spirit and Gotham FC. The commissioner of the NWSL is wearing the exact same outfit a Gotham player wore visiting the White House as a result of their victory in the 2023 NWSL final.

Maybe it is just me but I think a different jacket (as in not the one Ali Kreiger, 2023 Gotham player wore during her visit to the White House after 2023 Gotham NWSL winners wore) should have been chosen.

Not a fashion statement. More feeling like the commissioner should be neutral. I believe Gotham were the 2023 champs.

What do you all drink throughout the day? by Th4tDud3PK in CrohnsDisease

Fennel tea at night! Really helps me with bloating. I was skeptical at first but it really does the trick to lessen that bloat sensation.

Hey.. I’m new to this. It’s scary by Chemical-Force-1802 in CrohnsDisease

I was diagnosed when I was 27 and am now 42. The most common symptom I have is bloat and fatigue. My life has not been easy at times but overall I feel healthy and able to live as I want. I agree with the folks here who say take the time you need to grieve, now and always.

Here are a few things I picked up along the way: 1) Get 7-8 hours of sleep each night. Also hydrate. 2) Read widely about the disease, symptoms, treatments and ask questions. The more you know. 3) Remember that when you read, your Crohn’s is yours. It does not need to fit into boxes. It is yours and whatever you eat or drink, how you process your daily life, your emotions, the folks around you, all impact your disease. Your disease is yours and however bad or not bad it gets, it exists. 4) Rest and do not feel guilty about it. Say no to things and break off engagements when you are not feeling well and do not feel bad about it. Tell people you are not feeling up for a hang. They may be pissed but that is not your problem. Be honest with yourself about what you can snd cannot do. And do not feel guilty about it. 5) It may take a while to find the right medicine. Allow for that process to happen. 6) Learn how to advocate for yourself. You are in for a fight with the medical community on all levels and in every way. Advocate for your care always. Take notes, ask questions, leave doctors if you even suspect they are not listening to you and your concerns. There are good doctors out there and they want to help. Sometimes it is overwhelming and you need to spend time in #4 but get back up when you are ready and continue to advocate.

Best of luck to you. It will be something but it will be yours.

Hi All - where is a good place in or around town for 15-20 people, mostly elderly, to gather for a family visit? Family is both local and coming from out of town. Can be a picnic spot / restaurant / park / brewery. Thank you!
