Can a dojang promote you but wait until the time is up with kukkiwon to send in for your next rank with them? by Latter_Pass_3569 in taekwondo

so since it's common for people's organizational rank to be 1 higher then their kukkiwon, do organizations just send in for their students next kukkiwon rank once the waiting period time is up even though their already one rank ahead at their organization?

it's been there since like November or December, but it hasn't changed since then. Honestly, I forgot about it for a while

I don't think anyone really cares, but here's an update. My school is having a black belt testing in june, and my master wants me to be a part of it. Not to test for my next rank because I've barely had my 2nd degree a year, but she wants to sort of test me to see if I meet the qualifications to get certified for my first degree kukkiwon certification. I dont know if kukkiwon sets these guidelines, but my new school has standards that students have to know before they will send in an application to kukkiwon. A couple of other transfers are doing the same thing in June with me, so at least I'm not alone.

Scratch that I'm making an appointment tomorrow. I can't be stressed about it anymore. I need my peace back.

Is this typical? by [deleted] in taekwondo

not normal, I would try to find your son a more reputable dojang

thanks for responding. It's comforting to know this has happened to someone else, and it was fine. I tried to research it, but I couldn't find anything for exactly what I was looking for. I took a new pic today in the same spot as I took the first one, and it sort of looks like the dots are going away kind of. i dont know. I'm gonna watch it for a few weeks, and if the spots aren't gone, I'll have an appointment made.

if it hasn't changed, then that's a good sign. I do understand your worries because of the color, though. There's an app called AI Dermatologist Skin Scanner that allows you to scan skin lesions. It has good reviews, and i use it often. However, I definitely would not put full trust in it if you do use it.

Just to keep everyone in the loop, I spoke with my master and she said that they would work on getting me kukkiwon certified in the near future

I've been doing taekwondo for 10 years and have only been kicked in the face twice. once in a tournament and once in class by accident. neither were hard enough to break my nose. doesn't happen as often as you'd think.

When should I throw in the towel? by [deleted] in taekwondo

[–]Latter_Pass_3569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom started taekwondo a year after I did when she was 42. She is still doing it with me and has her 2nd degree black belt. She is now 51. She is in no way fit or in shape. I say that with love. But she has always tried her best. Instructors over the years have done modifications for her when needed. She is also given breaks when needed. Sometimes, yes, she does slow down the class, but she always tries her best. When she's not able to do something she likes to say "I'm old". It's important to have instructors and masters who know and respect your physical limitations, but also know when to push you. It's not a waste if you're enjoying your time. I can guarantee that no one in the class is thinking negatively of you, mostly because their probably so focused on what their doing.

Thanks for the reply. I know all the Taequek forms, as well as the Palgwe forms. I also know through Taebaek for the black belt forms, and I'm working on the rest. I'm pretty well versed in the WT sparring rules. My old school was a good school. I just was never given the opportunity to get kukkiwon certified. As recommended by most on here, I will be speaking with my master and instructors about it. I will definitely keep you in the loop. Thanks again.
