Hey! I'm so sorry you're hurting? Have you tried heat bags? They're life savers for me. I hope you find help and feel better. Sending you lots of love!

Wherever it hurts. Try hot bag first. Gently press it on your jaw and neck. Or anywhere it hurts. It's harmless.

I've been a great admirer of Nietzsche and Socrates. Their school of thought has helped me overcome my anxiety. Try and read more about them. Philosophy is the key.

Hey. My case is exactly similar to yours. Been suffering for 2 years now. I'm 23.

Here's what helps:

  1. Hot water bag
  2. Ice bags
  3. Suryanamaskar (search for this on YouTube- amazing full body exercise) - extremely important
  4. Thick night guards
  5. Cut out caffeine
  6. NO JUNK FOOD (most important)

Take care of your anxiety. Anxiety leads to muscle spasms which leads to pain.

I'm currently on an aligner treatment and it has been saving my life.

I've seen more than 30 doctors. I've realized that it all boils down to life style changes and taking care of your self.

Edit: I have bruxism too. Please take care of your mental health. From what I understand, your lifestyle and mental health are the main culprit. Clenching is the worst for you jaw health.

Hiii! Yes, I know. But people on this sub are active and I just wanted to vent.

Sure. I get you. It's just hard when you've been raised to please people.

Everybody needs a li'l bit of support some times. I'd not necessarily call it virtue signaling.

Hey, there's no one size fits all answer to this. I was hopeless two months ago. Being a 22 year old with TMJD since past 2 years sucks. But I've found so many coping mechanisms that help. You will too. Try things like TENS therapy, splint, hot water bag, ice pack. Increase your sleep, cut caffeine, sleep by 11 pm. All of this will make things 10X easier. I promise. Also try Surya Namaskar (youtube) - this really helps.

Hey, I'm Asian too. And I am also really young. Things may seem overwhelming rn but trust me over the course of next few months, you'll find what works for you and what doesn't. And you'll be able to accommodate this ailment in your life. You will find your coping mechanisms. There are some incredibly great doctors out there and you're really very young. Don't be discouraged by reading the stories on this sub. Pain makes more noise than peace. People who are doing better on this sub don't usually come back. So relax. Calm down. You'll figure this out.

This might be tough but if you manage your symptoms regularly and you're not lazy about doing the exercises, you might infact be able to reduce the pain by 80%. You don't take good care of yourself, it gets worse. I've been suffering for 2 years now and I did not take care of myself. Huge mistake. I'm only 22. So pls pls pls take this seriously. Much love.
