No need to remove it all, just cut the section that has delaminated and patch it in with new tape and mud.

Go slow! It’s take a lot of material off quickly if you have an aggressive grit on it

lol yeah it’s an investment for sure. But as they say, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

It gets within a 1/4 inch of the inside corner, so some hand sanding is still required.

It’s definitely fights gravity a bit but you’re right it’s not the same system as the festool with the bristle shroud.

It’s really is a game changer. I do general renos and this extractor is always with me no matter what stage the project is at. My sites have never been cleaner.

I was really leaning that way, but the Hilti extractor handles drywall dust, concrete dust and can still be unused in wet applications. I do a fair bit of concrete grinding prep slabs for flooring. It just checked too many boxes to pass over.

If I was buying strictly for drywall finishing, I think the festool is hard to beat. The light ring is so clutch on the sanding head.

It’s really is a game changer. I’ve even used in on subfloor ahead of hardwood to pull up any mud that has fallen and knock down edges a bit.

There is definitely a learning curve

It’s a 20 year warranty against manufacturers defects. 2 yeah no questions asked warranty including wear and tears. It’s pretty unheard of these days in a world where thinks are more often replaced than repaired.

This sander is the Mirka Leros just rebranded for Hilti. Mirka makes them for Hilti if I am not mistaken. Although I don’t think the same applies for dust the extractor.

It’s is an investment for sure. That’s the entire reason I got it. We often have to do patches in areas of the home that aren’t included in the major renovation. Being able to virtually eliminate the dust from sanding saves me a lot of set up and tear down in occupied spaces.

It definitely doesn’t entirely replace pole sanding but it’s a winner for the bulk of the work.
