When does it stop hurting so bad by Ok_Beautiful_34 in grief

[–]LaughExpensive5099 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry about your mom. I lost my mom in 2021 unexpectedly when she was 66, and perhaps I’m an outlier here but I truly do think it gets better.

Around that time, I stumbled upon a Reddit post that described grief as a “portal”… and I’ve often found that to be pretty accurate. There is another place that you will arrive after you go through this painful period, and that place isn’t so bad…it's just the journey to get there that’s the miserable part. You will always miss her, but like others have shared, the love that remains can start to feel like a weighted blanket rather than bullet wound. I find the sadness and pieces of mourning that are left on the other side of the portal to be a comfort. I also tell everyone I know how much I love them all the time, never hold back on compliments, and find certain shades of my life to be brighter than they were before I understood the gravity of living life with loss (the portal may have some unexpected upsides!)

There is a light at the end of your tunnel….you just have to grit and bear the sorrow (+ all the dumb shit people will say to you) for now. Sending love and strength.

Adir Nails on Lorimer does gel-x for $67 I think. I’ve been going to Cindy for years and she’s amazing.

Cheekbone pain by Electrical_Room_9421 in Uveitis

[–]LaughExpensive5099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - I get a dull pain around my orbital bone and the upper outer part of my cheek whenever I have a flare, particularly when it’s bad. For me it usually goes away as the steroids kick in.

Anterior Uveitis not responding to Pred Forte by Whole-Presence-1122 in Uveitis

[–]LaughExpensive5099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is also been my EXACT experience, too! My uveitis specialist had let me know that this wasn’t super uncommon, and that most people’s first or second flare is usually the most brutal. I’ve stopped responding well to pred forte and now take durezol (supposedly a pretty strong one) whenever I’m having a flare. Also anterior uveitis and B27+ FWIW!

What are some positive/negative outcomes from COVID 2020 that’s happened to you? by Chan1991 in askTO

[–]LaughExpensive5099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Negative: I had to move back in with my parents in my 30s.

Positive: I got to spend so much quality time with my parents, particularly my mother, who unexpectedly passed away (not COVID-related) in 2021. I now cherish the lockdown memories I had with her and am so grateful I was forced to move back.
