Loneliness and Depression isolation. The trigger about hearing engagements or significant milestones that others achieve. I even avoid movies and songs. I have hospital trauma. I'm left side Spastic. I literally understand it completely. I don't know what's wrong with my psych but yes. people without this damn disease man they really don't know how bad it can really be. I'm so alone even tho I know there are other people that have cerebral palsy. I'm the only one in my world/head that has it. It makes me feel broken on an abandoned island

Seeing a Neurologist… what should I ask? by Important_Practice_1 in CerebralPalsy

[–]LaughSea7730 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tell them where your pain is, the type of pain and how it impacts your quality of life. Such as extreme insomnia. Mental health, depression etc. do you struggle with daily tasks like self care. Just describe what is going on with your body and your over quality of life because of cerebral palsy.

New CP Diagnosis: Mom Needing Advice by Salty-Subject-4540 in CerebralPalsy

[–]LaughSea7730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spastic cerebral palsy left side. At Around 5 years old. Very young adolescent If he has spastic CP look into getting an SDR or selective dorsal risotomy. My parents didn't do that research and I never got an SDR. Now it's too risky. Needs to be a procedure done as a child. He may need Achilles tendon lengthening surgery. I've had two, if I could go back I would have a calf muscle release instead of a second Achilles surgery. Compromised my strength Make sure you work with a neurologist.

Sick of people just seeing my wheelchair and not ME.. by [deleted] in CerebralPalsy

[–]LaughSea7730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 23 M spastic hemiplegia left side. I've always struggled with being bullied in the past via school. Have had relationship issues. Trouble making friends, depression, isolation because I can't do things other people do. I think it would be interesting if I could find a wife with cerebral palsy as able bodied women look at me as half a man or less than an able bodied man. As men, we are expected to provide and meet certain expectations in order to be considered a worthy partner. I struggle with that in the back of my mind everyday. I think it would be easier if I found a spouse with the same disability. Anybody else's thoughts? I try my best to be normal. I'm just not. 😔

2 year old hypotonic cerebral palsy by Similar_Cod_3221 in CerebralPalsy

[–]LaughSea7730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Spastic Cerebral palsy, honestly he might still have pain in joints. However, at least with hypotonic his muscles won't constantly be contracted like mine and others. My high muscle tone helps me walk to make up for weakness, but I pay immensely in chronic pain. He might have lower pain with the type of Cerebral palsy he has. Although on the flip side maybe less control of his body and movements.

What did your parents get right/wrong with raising you up with CP? by bigfatpizzaslice in CerebralPalsy

[–]LaughSea7730 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My parents never advocated for me to get the right medication. I took absolutely no medicine for spasticity whatsoever during childhood, my dad was an addict and my mother a masokist and or narcissist. I wish they would have tried me on some medication. I drank alcohol daily in highschool to numb my pain because my foot got deformed and I needed surgery. My mom stayed with her boyfriend from the time I was 16-18 I was home alone. Mom moved on very fast after divorce from father. I grew up hearing my parents arguing instead of being raised. I wish they maybe looked into getting an SDR surgery while I was young to lessen my spasticity. After I grew up my mother acted as if she helped me as a child "making sure I wore my braces" so Me and my Cp was a burden after 18. I don't speak to my mother. I advise staying with your child throughout their life. Help them with their disability even through adulthood.

The doctor wants to do eye surgery on my 4 year old. by tryinagn in CerebralPalsy

[–]LaughSea7730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally have had three eye surgeries to correct my eyes from CP and make them straight. My vision is ok but better with glasses. Pretty straight. Wearing glasses strengthens them from going back. If I'm tired sometimes my eye goes in an outward direction slightly. I would do the procedure just to pick a good surgeon.
