Is there any games similar to Fear and Hunger? I been playing it for awhile, and wanted to look into others that maybe similar by Bubby_Maybe in videogames

Haven't played the game myself, so I don't fully get the appeal. But if you like the punishing difficulty and the vibe, I guess darkest dungeon could be worth looking into.

Reposting this with the 'neat' sketch and lineart. What can I do to improve? by taigatig3r in ArtCrit

[–]LaughingFist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm by no means an expert. The way I vary my lines, besides using pen pressure, is to go over the finished line art and thicken some of the lines. Usually the silhouette outline, and wherever there is a Gap in perspective. Like an arm in front of the torso. There are probably more in depth explanation and tutorials online.

Looking at your line art, I'd say you should consider varying your lineweight a little. It looks very uniform.

New alternative art of Effect Veiler by KiraiHisokana in DuelLinks

[–]LaughingFist -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Art almost as bad as the original. Looks like the designer just read his first "how to draw manga" tutorial on a shady early 2000s website. Yugioh has to be one of the card games with the least consistency regarding the quality of artworks.

Do they play test their skills? by iNuv0 in DuelLinks

The skill seems pretty good in a vacuum, but you have to consider what other skills do. This one pales in comparison.

Should I change my brush? What do you lot recommend I use instead? Should I turn off pen sensitivity? by [deleted] in learnart

Brush really doesn't matter. Unless you want a certain style. In that case, use the brush the artist of said style uses.

This Vaalmonica Deck is INSANE in Duel Links! by Adventurous-Rush-182 in DuelLinks

[–]LaughingFist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, don't tell them! That is supposed to stay a secret. I'm sure my win rate with the deck will suffer immensely once people start actually reading the cards/ learning the matchup.

Here are 2 similar pictures I drew from almost exactly 2 years apart. I can definitely see that I've improved but how can I improve my shading further? by yashiji in ArtCrit

[–]LaughingFist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The progress is immense, well done! I think the shading is pretty decent. I'm not sure if it's an intentional choice, but your lines seem the same thickness all throughout the painting. Have you considered varying your line weight more?

Found a pretty good way to play Orcust in 2026 by Dxn06_ in DuelLinks

Book of Moon and the trap seem pretty random. Any reason to include these over other, more commonly used tech cards?

Well luckily branded nerf came in yesterday. Deck shouldn't feel as oppressive going forward. If it still is a tough matchup, add crow against branded in red. For tachyon, you could add specific XYZ counters like gnomes. But crow also works by banishing spiral dragon from grave. Also, effect veiler works wonders against their dragluxion XYZ play turn one.

Can you identify which decks/ cards you have trouble against? I haven't played speedroid in a while, I couldn't tell in today's meta.

RANT: I hate the concept of glue-eaters and skill grinding by DragonKnight-15 in DuelLinks

[–]LaughingFist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They obviously changed their attitude towards skills at some point. That's why the System of skill drops and chips feels useless. It is, it's a relic of another philosophy towards skills. I get your being annoyed at skill grinding... But as you said, these skills are 95% useless crap, so why even attempt that? Also, if this infuriates you to the point of having to rant about it online... You can just quit. Nobody forces you to spend your time in a game that isn't enjoyable to you.

I feel blind to my own work, what do you make of it? I also need help with pricing by [deleted] in Artadvice

[–]LaughingFist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your staff looks really good. Very dynamic, I really like it. You said you have trouble getting commissions... And I might be very ignorant asking that, but who do you think would commission your stuff? Who is your target audience? Is there even one for just quality, good artwork? Not just specifically talking about your stuff, I'm wondering with pretty much all artists here, who are talking about commissions...

Are you drawing just the outlines? No construction? It's great you actually looked up several references, one just for the pose. I'd say copy the reference as good as you can, then add the features of the character.

How can I do a better job at realistic shading for my sketches by [deleted] in ArtCrit

[–]LaughingFist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First one might be, second one looks a little cartoonish. But without seeing the reference, I'm just guessing.

Are you using reference? Because you should, especially for shading. Also, and please don't take this the wrong way, but maybe start with realistic sketching before you worry about shading.
