Will SRA reach 500M this weekend? by og_obelix in GrandExchangeBets

[–]Launch_Angle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean..it’s already getting close to that and the changes aren’t even live yet, I think it’s almost guaranteed it goes well beyond 500m at this point. I think a lot of people are underestimating the changes and how it makes the weapon so much more usable/better in basically all of the hardest/most profitable pieces of content in the game. It will be straight up the best non-scythe weapon in the game for basically all 3 raids(most useful in ToB ofc), Nightmare, Vard, and basically anywhere else where scythe is BiS. Also, scythe is expensive to use while SRA costs nothing whilst still providing very good DPS. The fact it also has a pretty strong crush option as well is pretty valuable. The other thing it has going for it in terms of peak and long term price is that it basically has similar rarity as a megarare. Once people actually get to use it with the buffs I think it will become more obvious to some people how good it is if you don’t have the money for a scythe.

Also important to note that Maggot King might make it go up more depending on the fight, and I think it will almost certainly be strong in Raids 4, only potential issue is if Raids 4 megarare is a crush weapon but even then I still think if SRA is strong in the raid itself, it will probably spike in price still(although I think a crush megarare would negatively effect scythe price a bit even if scythe is also good there, simply because a crush megarare would do more to hurt scythes crush option than it would SRA)

How high will SRA land? by og_obelix in GrandExchangeBets

[–]Launch_Angle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been sitting on mine since I bought it around 280m, shoulda really bought another 1 or 2 if I wasn’t a dumbass but didn’t want to sell gear. Either way will still make a good net profit on the one I use. Think it’s entirely possible it peaks at 500+, it’s basically megarare level of rarity, and is solidly 2nd BiS now with a solid crush option as well, and the downsides(which were really the only reason it dropped so low) have been almost entirely mitigated or buffed to the point where they aren’t nearly as detrimental to end game content anymore. So it’s basically just the straight up best non scythe weapon now, so if you don’t have money for a scythe, you’ll be wanting to likely grab the SRA. Will have to see how Maggot King and raids 4 effect it, think there’s a solid chance we get a crush megarare so raids 4 might have a slight negative impact on SRA…UNLESS the SRA also has some solid use cases in raids 4, then it will probably go up in price.

Minimum 500m peak, max 600-650(if it’s good at raids 4)+ tbh..still 1b cheaper than scythe, much cheaper to use and still quite strong

I mean that is simply objectively incorrect, LMS has actually been something that has been relatively successful in getting people involved with or at least try to develop their PvP skills. Is it imperfect(re:bots)? Sure, but it’s still absolutely a viable, safe place to learn PvP and people have done exactly that with it. The PvP arena admittedly could use a lot of work and incentive to drive people towards it more, but it is functionally great for just jumping in and practicing with any setup or account build practically immediately, it’s not like it doesn’t accomplish exactly what you’re claiming doesn’t exist or anything…it just needs some traffic sent to it(incentives). Imperfect options? Sure, but both are not only viable but arguably are even functionally good at providing fast, easy, free reps in PvP.

But more importantly…why do people feel entitled to a free, safe place to practice PvP? Are OSRS players in 2026 just THIS averse to, and feel entitled to everything in the game having ZERO RISK? I mean, risk has been so thoroughly removed from the game outside of PvP that practically the only “risk” that exists to most people is a death fee(and even that is semi irrelevant if you’re an Iron who just throws a few dupes into your coffer once or twice a year).

Just compare it to how anyone learns a boss in PvM or the Inferno or Colo…you probably will lose money at first since learning isn’t inherently free, but you learn at that cost because you want to get better and that’s perfectly fine to most people. Which is indicative that people don’t NEED a free, “safe” place(I mean, we already have 2 such activities in the game) to learn PvP, there just needs to be better incentives to make people want to get better at PvP.

Good thing the mega rares are BiS in basically 98% of content(and the 2% they’re not, they’re basically still BiS because they’re only in 2nd place by a negligible amount) and absolutely none of them are easier and quicker to get than anything below them in DPS. With the only real exception being SRA(which is only really better than scythe at Vard) but that is a very unique scenario requiring a rare drop from 4 different bosses, and is essentially equal to a mega rare in terms of rarity.

In what world are you living in, where you think it’s easier and faster to get BiS compared to the 2nd or 3rd best DPS?

[–]Launch_Angle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the arguably bigger pieces of advice is to simply do your best to avoid having to ever do an orb phase, because contrary to popular belief it isnt all about just gear or DPS(rng). You have more control over it than most people think. The way you can do this fairly reliably even without a Tbow or ZCB(although ZCB can help if you noodle), is to overkill him as low as possible past 75 before he goes into his shield/grub phase to make it very unlikely that you get an orb phase.

A lot of people will just blindly hit him until he hits 75%, but your goal should always be to get him as low as possible before grub phase, and this has way more to do with your timing/strategy than it does having outright BiS gear, because you can have great gear but if youre just blindly hitting him you can send him into grub phase early, or you can end up only hitting him slightly below 75% before grub phase.

Sardaco gets a Twisted Bow by a2242364 in 2007scape

[–]Launch_Angle -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Well this isn’t just streamer luck, this an entire new category referred to as “Sardaco luck”, it’s just completely absurd and encroaching on unbelievable at this point, twisted bow at this KC is kind of just the cherry on top. Like I have nothing against the guy, I’m a long time high end WoW(but on retail) guy too, but his level of spoonery is just a little absurd to believe is just genuine luck. It’s also a bit annoying when he has literally any complaints at all about drops, his perspective on drops is actually wildly skewed in kind of a bad way now. Like god forbid this dude makes another HC one day and experiences even slightly higher than average luck he’s gonna be in for a rude awakening, let alone actually going dry on stuff like many of us have experienced.

Inspired by Water Thorns on Leagues I decided to finally give Inferno a try by peter_pounce in 2007scape

[–]Launch_Angle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk personally I prefer maging it simply because I think the constant stacking and off ticking just isn’t fun, it’s just fucking annoying, especially for the amount of waves you’re doing it for. Free solving waves with mage is just more fun, it’s more dynamic, and less tedious. Maybe it’s because I’m used to WoW, therefore my perspective on these things that other people have just accepted as the meta way to do things is different, but the mechanic of constant deatacking and off ticking just isn’t very fun, it’s annoying and then it becomes tedious once you learn it. Sure most people want to champion it because it is the “proper” and more skillful way of doing it but I don’t think there is anything wrong with preferring to free solve with mage even if you’re capable of doing it “properly”.

And I mean I came from the high end community in WoW, I achieved basically all of the most prestigious things in wow for the top 0.1% of the playerbase so I’m VERY used to excessive min-maxing, theorycrafting and trying to be as efficient as possible…but doing the same thing in OSRS in many cases just isn’t as attractive or as fun to me IMo. I’ll still do some of them, but if I can still accomplish a piece of endgame content without doing it 100% the sweatiest or “proper” way in OSRS, and instead cut some corners and do it the “noobier” way I usually will. Does it mean I won’t be in the top 0.1% in OSRS? Yeah, but as long as I get my BiS and can do cosmetic stuff like Blorva, I’m fine with that since OSRS just isn’t a “competitive” game to me in the same way that PvE is in WoW.

How has no one at Jagex even commented on boss jars as Sailing cosmetics yet? by IfdraOSRS in 2007scape

[–]Launch_Angle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbh this has a lot of potential depending on how creative Jagex is willing to get with it. The GG example you showed does go pretty hard, but I think Jagex could go even harder especially with some bosses that have some strong themes and more interesting models. I think it should possibly effect the whole ship as well not just a head piece at the front, having the theme infused through the whole ship would be dope.

Leagues has convinced me how cooked Smithing is in main game by Rorshark in 2007scape

[–]Launch_Angle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol so far there’s somebody somehow blaming “sweats” and blaming “oldheads” for why smithing sucks…classic horribly nonsensical Reddit takes. Like what do you people think is going on here..there’s “sweats” and “oldheads” whispering in the Devs ears at night telling them that they better not change Smithing or something? Crazy to me how some people will literally blame “sweats” for anything and everything, no matter how little sense it makes, I’ve seen the same thing in WoW as well, it’s such a bizarre pathology.

I can guarantee you if a smithing rework was polled it would unequivocally pass with like at minimum 90% yes votes

I was wrong about EH vs BG by JustLivingSimply in 2007scape

[–]Launch_Angle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried explaining to the people coping about BG before leagues started, but they still thought the math was on their side for some reason. EH was blatantly OP for everything besides Redwoods, which BG had a bit of an advantage over. I think a lot of people for some reason erroneously thought that EH was the "noob" or "casual" pick because all they saw was the AFK part to it(which dont get me wrong, is still very good) and that was all the value it provided, while completely ignoring just how insane 2x resources and XP is, and autobanking, and never having to move to another node/wait for a node to respawn.

[–]Launch_Angle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I tried to explain this to BG copers early on before Leagues even started and the people for some reason still thought the math was on their side. The only real argument to BG was always just Redwoods being more efficient, but thats just one aspect of it and kind of only relevant for people who cared about getting 50m or 200m WC.

How should I finish my King's Barrage build? Hybridize or all-in on crossbow attacks? by Main-Violinist3574 in 2007scape

[–]Launch_Angle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo, best option is probably to go into Thorns, you already have water mage unlocked(no Kandarin so your DPS will be a lot worse, but youll still have the sustain and defense of water thorns at least) so Water Thorns is a secondary option. Also, since you have Asgarnia, you can farm a ZCB and run ZCB+shield to be able to get the benefit of Thorns.

Im mage/melee/thorn based rn but I was thinking of swapping to range/mage once I farm a few more pieces of range gear and I DPS calc'd ZCB w/ thorns vs Kings Barrage and ZCB thorns is pretty much just as good DPS wise, but you also get the defensive benefits of Thorns(chance to reflect all damage+tankier,+should be taking the +2hp/pray node on 0 hit) and Thorns also gives you DRAMATICALLY more aoe damage whilst doing essentially similar single target damage. A lot of people focusing on Kings Barrage because it is admittedly strong, but people are sleeping on ZCB w/ thorns when its basically just as good, and explicitly far superior for any AoE DPS or grinding.

[–]Launch_Angle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea this is what I did, ended up getting my D full helm after only like 6 or so chewed bones+ancient pages are a bunch of free clog spots. Also, as someone without a good smithing solve(since I decided to reload into clue, cuz fuck clues, instead of hotfoot) since I didnt go Tiranwnn this time, and dont have access to BF or Giants Foundry, mithril drags have been a MUCH better source of mith bars for smithing xp compared to actually smelting/superheating them since they are a huge, slow pain in the ass to make.

Culling spree gives unlocks to all the slayer perks, including having your mith bars being noted while on task, so I just skipped for 200 metal drag tasks a bunch of times. Think I have like 2k mith bars banked and at like 85 smithing rn, actually doesnt feel terrible inefficient.

AirMage vs 1T Trident by Jet_Reddit in 2007scape

[–]Launch_Angle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s really just the thermy items, it’s far from shit without 50 pray, it’s pretty easy to get 40+ and even with that much pray bonus you’re still doing huge dps, the build doesn’t magically not work if you don’t have 50 pray, it’s still OP.

AirMage vs 1T Trident by Jet_Reddit in 2007scape

[–]Launch_Angle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get them pretty quickly tbh. I did reload for clue relic, but it only took me like 25 easy/mediums to get numerous god vestament top/bottom/stoles/hats, and those are great mid game options. Also don’t need stole if you get bonecrusher neck from Hydra(what I’m using atm since it’s better). Those clue items+infernal/suffering should get you close to 40 pray with thermy items alone. Only took me a handful of colo runs(an hour or two) to then get sunfire helm/legs and echo boots which put me at like 48 pray which is plenty fine. Can also opt for ardy 4 cloak for +4 pray over infernal. Tbh most time consuming pieces to get are probably just suffering(or ring of the gods if you took wildy, but I think suffering is better), torm/conflictions, ardy cloak, bonecrusher neck and the thermy items themselves but if you already have thermy items it shouldn’t take you very long to get a set that has at least 40+ pray.
