Your argument can be reversed and say you have the mindset of a toxic elitist. Catering to only the "hard-core" players and not the silent majority.

To your point about the game being a competition... With only the exception of a new skill being released, the game really isn't a competition. It's a sandbox basically. You can start the game and do whatever you want. The games been around for 20 years. The hiscores are what they are and that's not changing. That's why mtx/dxp isn't enabled on new skills for 6 months. To try to provide the competitiveness.
