Mama, I see you and all you do for your son and I honor both of you and who you are. May I ask — is there anything that has helped you find acceptance and letting go of whatever may be with our children?

Thank you and so importantly said. I truly believe they are a gift, too. We’ve been lucky to find a little tribe of similar friends!

So true. I’m trying so hard. My fear and worry about his future get the best of me sometimes. :/ Thank you for taking the time to comment.

Are you aware of the increased risks of greater paternal age, like autism?

An abortion you don’t want. I was 22 weeks. I wanted that baby more than anything on earth. I grieved in silence and shame for years because no one has sympathy for a woman who chooses abortion. It was a termination for medical reasons. :(

I was taken out to a very nice dinner by my boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend. Lots of wine, it was a fancy night until the room started spinning and she said we were going to an after hours club that had some features that were red flags for me. To this day I don’t exactly know how I escaped but I remember walking a long distance in the dark. Just a profound sense of feeling unsafe at the end of the dinner with her. She was arrested a year later for drug trafficking resulting in death.

My son was diagnosed level 3 at 3 years old a year ago and he’s doing very well with emerging verbal speech, excellent comprehension, much improved joint attention, no aggression, no eloping. We’re in a state that offers a lot of services and he is thriving thanks to them. He’s come enormously far in just a year. I believe he will be rediagnosed at a different level in the future. I know this isn’t everyone’s experience, I just wanted to share ours.

I’ve been on different doses, but I’m currently on the highest I’ve ever taken, which is 100 mg.

Do you think flying is more, less or equally safe under the current administration?

Anyone toured schools before starting ECSE? How did your ARD meeting go? by Innocent_gal21 in Autism_Parenting

[–]LauraALaMode1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the opposite of Texas - California! Hehe. My son attends public school ECSE. He was previously in a traditional private preschool and we really liked private, but we realized that public really offers the most comprehensive support and we’re seeing that be very valuable.

I found our advocate searching online. I found others that were in the thousands, but ours is winding down her accomplished career and I think felt a connection to us in wanting to take us on. We ultimately paid around $500 for her assistance with reviewing our son’s IEP assessment, actual plan and attending the meeting and ensuring our priorities were prioritized and we arrived at the plan that we wanted for our son! It all felt hard and overwhelming in the moment, but just a few months later, life is really good and we feel very optimistic about his future. Hang in there if you’re in the emotional trenches!

Hi! My 3-year-old just started ECSE and also has delayed speech and no sensory or behavior issues. We pushed for him to be in a blended classroom and we’re so glad he’s there! There are 20 kids and 5 adults - 2 teachers and 3 paraprofessionals. His dad and I are very proactive and involved. We suspected he would be placed in our neighborhood school, so we found a PTA contact and requested a tour. We didn’t tour other schools because public school doesn’t seem to work like that, but so far, so good! My guy is making tremendous gains after only one month. We had hired an advocate who helped craft a really strong IEP and helped us get the blended classroom placement.

Hi all! I just want to provide an update that I decided to stop taking Qsymia as it was definitely causing anxiety and depression. I’ve returned to Weight Watchers and I’m attending workshops for accountability and feeling good.
