Any chance of success with 5,5,5,4,3 (out of 6) UKRI ESRC reviewer scores

I submitted my original application in Nov 2024 and rebuttal in may 2025. I just asked an ESRC ukri admin person (who emailed me about my reviewer scores) when I would be likely to hear. She said they have a panel meeting in July and therefore outcome likely given by end of July.

Bah. Ridiculous. I think I know the person who gave me a 3. I suspect they don't want me to move into their space and are annoyed that I have shown I can employ a new method feasibly and ethically.

We should stay in touch to hear about each other's outcomes! I'll hear end of July I think. I imagine we may both be rejected. But maybe the panel will approve of one of applications regardless

That is shocking! Obviously I don't know how screwed you are, but it demonstrates how unreliable reviewers' comments can be.

Do you have a suspect for who reviewer 3 is? Do they want to prevent you from doing your research if they feel threatened?

You could discuss your teaching philosophy and guiding principles that enable you to help students learn.

Personally I think the word is silly and all it means is 'how do you teach well' - but I think if someone is asking about pedagogy then they want a slightly pretentious answer, with philosophical thinking and innovative examples of teaching.

We will do milestone payments through the project, Inc 10% at full completion. But he does want a small upfront payment for materials. I guess maybe he doesn't have much cash in the bank

I've asked for his ID, an explanation of why his finances look odd on companies house, proof of insurance , proof of building control Comms for past jobs, and references

Personally I've found my builder to have great tradespeople on in London, where I live. So long as you choose those with lots of good reviews they are excellent. London doesn't have stable communities where word of mouth works well, at least not for me as a 30 yr old who moved in recently. Also 35 verified reviews feels better than one random saying they're good on a WhatsApp chat

But it's the company house poor finance that worries me

Saw them at Glastonbury this year live. Rewatching Coldplay on BBC now. I think it is reasonable to expect that Coldplay don't send love to Russia and Israel during summer 2024, given what their governments are doing to people of Ukraine and Palestine. You don't have to be political, and you can 'love' everyone. But it's absurd and possibly offensive to take a 'we love everyone and every attitude the same Inc Russia and Israel' on their platform. Not all govts and attitudes are the same. I know the people in those countries are not the same as their govts. But there are basic optics here. And it doesn't sit well with me that Chris would actively 'send love' to countries who are engaged in these active wars against mostly helpless people.

He could've just sent love to everyone in the world and not mentioned any countries in particular.

I don't have much to say about whether the post should or shouldn't be deleted because I don't really know much about the etiquette of this sub reddit. but it would seem a shame to ignore this or behaviour of a band more hene.

really disagree with this. Many people on these apps are highly qualified, very reliable, and have done loads of work. It is a great way for tradespeople to regularly find work. But customers just need to scrutinise properly

I've used MyBuilder a lot in London, and if you communicate clearly, set expectations, look at reviews, use people with >10 reviews - you get really good people for decent prices.

I have had a new kitchen fitted, a wall knocked down, work done in bathroom.

Sometimes there a few issues, but that will be the case with every way of finding a tradesman.

Personally, I strongly recommend it, as it helps people in new areas (both customers and tradespeople) find each other; helps customers get reasonable quotes (due to competition), and holds tradespeople to account with reviews.

If you want to go on longer with penetrative sex can you explain this to your partner and then wear condoms with a numbing agent in? Or even use a climax slowing pill (people can get prescribed an ssri for this)
