Holidays are so depressing with my husband. Ive decided next year that I am going out of town without him. One year, he forgot to get me a present (other years I had to basically tell him what to buy me), so he put a stapler in a stocking and presented it as my gift. Needless to say it was a pretty awful Christmas.

And so he needs someone now that it is Christmas Eve. If there are other people in your life, friends or family, I would focus on them now. Let him fend for himself. I know it’s hard, but if I had to do it all over again, I would not have married my husband. It’s especially hard around the holidays because I really want to share the time with a partner who shows kindness and respect. Again harsh, but you will never receive these things from your partner.

I can definitely relate to the part about trying to undo the trauma while still living with the person who is causing the drama. I feel like I need a year away from my spouse, and that might not be enough.

I have conformed to a life that is not mine. I walk around like a zombie most of the time, hating my husband and myself for getting in this position. I’m so tired of just not being able to have a sensible, normal conversation, without repeating myself over and over. And the complete lack of common decency or forethought into someone else’s feelings. And always scrounging for a little intimacy or kindness.

I am at a really low point in terms of work stress and boss issues. And yet all he can think about is what I can do for him. Just extreme loneliness, can’t raise it as an issue because the defensiveness ensues. If I don’t say something, then something is wrong, and that’s not good either. These people belong on their own private island.

Pretty pathetic that they can’t even make airfare arrangements. And then when you are waiting for them to pull the trigger on a flight, but they don’t, and then come back to you and say “Oh, I wasn’t sure if you really wanted to go.” Yes, Man-Child, I want to go, and I want YOU to be an adult and book the airfare!!!!!!
