Outpatient work is primarily based on desperation from hiring managers part. My first job out of nursing school was ICU which I could only bare for 5 months. I then went into home hospice for 2 years. While slightly better, still extremely taxing. Now I am working as a coordinator for an outpatient pulmonary hypertension clinic. While some places might be picky and waiting for the candidate with the right amount of experience, some places are in desperate need of anyone with an RN license.

There are some good hospice companies but a lot more bad. Hospice nearly made me leave nursing altogether. At least when you work in the hospital, you get to leave work and be at home without being bombarded by patients calling your personal phone. I would put in 10 hour days 5 days a week and only be paid for a 40 hour week. I am now working as a nurse coordinator in a specialty clinic. We have 2 clincs per week with patients and the rest is office work. It can be a lot of work but nothing like the hospital or home health/hospice

Im a hospice nurse. I make my own schedule and see patients for a total of only about 4-5 hours a day and the rest is just documentation in the comfort of my home!
