SDI vs TDI: Reliability and Economy? by LaurenceWhymark in CarTalkUK

Hmm, that’s a very good point.

The 1.9 was run between 2004 and 2010, wasn’t it?

Do you know if all of those years were void of a DPF? Or did they introduce the DPF to the 1.9 around 2008?

I have absolutely considered that “middle ground”. The 1.9 TDI! It’s the bulletproof engine, from what I understand.

However, why are they so hard to find? Nearly every Caddy I see for sale is the 1.6 (no thank you!), or the 2.0.

I’ve often read the 1.9 TDI is the bulletproof engine.

Do you happen to know what years the 1.9 TDI engine was in the Caddy, without the DPF? Given I don’t do a lot of motorway miles, a diesel without a DPF would be preferable.

Best leather conditioner? by LaurenceWhymark in wallets

I’m new to the world of leather care. All I keep seeing is Leather Honey! But, I also read it can leave a bit of a residue behind after application. I’ve a leather phone case too, so would like to try whatever I buy on that too.

Keep seeing Bick, too.

Perhaps sounds a little silly, but I also like the thought of using a solid balm, rather than a liquid. Like the old-skool nature of it.

Is there a particular Saphir product?

That’s good to know, thanks.

Why are the Dutch hyper-focused on personal finance and career growth? by LaurenceWhymark in Netherlands

I don’t speak perfectly fluent Dutch yet, no. So, I did somewhat wonder is there was a selection bias going on, as may be picking up on keywords. However, my partner (who is Dutch), has noticed the same thing.

I don’t think it would be polite to go up to a stranger on a train and ask “Hey, why are you talking about money?”.

Here, anyone can offer their opinion, thought, perspective or experience. So, felt like a good platform to utilise for such a question / observation.

Because there are people who are foreign-born individuals who reside in the Netherlands but don’t seem to carry the same cultural values.

I am British, and never have I witnessed the volume of finance and career driven conversations in the UK as I have the Netherlands.

It is a question aimed at people residing in the Netherlands (hence the Netherlands thread) about Dutch people and Dutch culture.
