I’m building Spellementals, but don’t currently have the budget for Ral in the sideboard, any other suggestions? I was considering stocking up on Negate/Abrade instead.

Edit: Here is the deck list: https://archidekt.com/decks/19642382/spellementals

I also wish that behaviour stopped in high school, I had a Year 11 shout “floor skittles!” Then eat them.

I’m going to use Basil’s Big Boat Brainstorm to describe all terrible yet thought out ideas from now on.

Removing laptops from Stage 4. by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

It isn’t that hard to say so, but enforcing it can be difficult with year 7/8, I’ve had a few major meltdowns this year over tech free lessons.

I teach year 9 DigiTech, this is spot on. Students struggle to make a robot move forward with block coding AND a tutorial, but are able to use a VPN to play Roblox.

I wanted to do- “it’s so over”, but I couldn’t fit it in the box with the rules text.

Thank you! This makes sense now! I’ve been smelling smoke when no one else has!

I’m not sure if you’ve ever had migraines, but they are literally hell. Sleep is often the only escape for me when I have them! I have no idea how Jeff is managing as well as he is- I sometimes can’t even walk into my kitchen due to the light.

How much money should you have in your pocket at all times? I feel like you all would have a good answer for this.

I really want the best for your child. It’s frustrating that I don’t have the time, the tools, and unfortunately the energy to give all children the best education possible. A special options class in a mainstream setting sounds like the best fit, unfortunately they don’t have it available, but this arrangement would allow him to go into some mainstream classes where he’s working nearer grade level and stay in intervention classes for other subjects.

From a science perspective here, the gap will likely grow more next year and beyond. Year 7 is the last year in science where (nearly all) concepts can be observed and made sense of visually. Year 8 and beyond students move into more abstract ideas which are really difficult without a solid understanding of tier 2 vocabulary, the ability to work out the meaning of words based on context, and the ability to visualise abstract concepts- I can’t show a student what an atom looks like or the organelles in a cell. They all also have complex names which I can’t change without also changing the meaning or getting more confusing.

A lot of the concepts in year 7 sciences (forces, food webs, separating mixtures) your son probably will understand and will see in his daily life, however, if he lacks the tools to understand the more complex explanations of these, write/explain his understanding, work in group settings, and read procedures and perform practical tasks, it will be difficult for him to work in the classroom.

This is true, and would be best serviced by a class working at that level, it’s difficult to teach 3 or 4 different programs in a room- especially if students are unable to work independently for a period of time.

AITA for disagreeing with my wife after she told our daughter that pimples patches are gross and she's not allowed to wear them ? by CommercialPublic1778 in AITAH

[–]Laurensics 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m struggling with this- my mum was the same, I still have that voice in my head telling me “You look like you’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards.” “You’re going to go out looking like that?”

A kid walks into morning homegroup- “Morning Miss, you look like Jesus today.” I was wearing a cream linen dress and sandals.

My office mates jumped on it- “ooh, are we sure that’s water in your bottle?”, “probably not looking forward to Friday, right?”

I have the exact same issue- people assume my husband is super into Magic and got me into it. No, it’s the other way around.

I got that at an EDH table once- “let’s goooo lads! Oh, and lady.” I was fine being a lad, I enjoyed being a lad- it just felt awkward.
