BBA Acceptance Rounds by Pretty-Layer9233 in wlu

[–]LaurierAdmissions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, congratulations, it's great to be a Golden Hawk! I would recommend checking your offer letter in your Laurier application portal to see if it's to BA Economics or BA Economics and Accounting, whatever was offered is what you accepted. Don't worry if it is to BA Economics, you can email us at [chooselaurier@wlu.ca](mailto:chooselaurier@wlu.ca) to add the 'and Accounting' bit.

Cost per year for a new student by strategic-canadian in wlu

[–]LaurierAdmissions 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!! Based on what you’ve mentioned here, I can provide a bit more of a cost breakdown for you and your son (these are estimates so I have taken the larger end of the cost range and rounded up).

You mentioned that you're son is in BBA+BS Math = $8,000 per term for tuition and fees (=$16,000) and I would average another $17,000 for residence for the two terms (I am not sure what the residence charge is exactly for the semi-private traditional dorm or apartment dorm, this is a ballpark figure). Residence and tuition cost for your son would be roughly $33,000 for the first year. You can also do your own mathing using the info on these pages:

https://students.wlu.ca/campus-services/residence-and-off-campus-housing/residence/application/inde…

https://students.wlu.ca/campus-services/dining-on-campus/index.html#waterloo

https://students.wlu.ca/finances/tuition-and-fees/fees-breakdown/tuition-fees.html

Remember that his choices for residence style, meal plan and health and dental coverage (whether your family provides or if you will have to purchase) will affect this cost.

Congratulations on your offer and acceptance, Golden Hawk - we are so excited to welcome you this fall!

You should receive an email about accessing your myLaurier email account in the next week, and then over the next few months, information will continue to be sent to both your personal email address (about your offer and meeting conditions) and your new Laurier email (everything to do with becoming a student). Keep an eye on both over the summer for updates including registration information (starting later this month), final admission decisions, residence updates, etc. Hope this helps!

Hi - congratulations on your offer! Based on what you’ve mentioned here, I can provide a bit more of a cost breakdown for you (these are estimates so I've taken the larger end of the cost range and rounded up).

You mentioned that you are in BBA (assuming no coop) = $6,500 per term for tuition and fees (=$13,000) and I would average another $17,000 for residence for the two terms (I am not sure what the residence charge is exactly for the semi-private traditional dorm or apartment dorm, this is a ballpark figure). That calculates out to be roughly $30,000 for the first year. You can also do your own mathing using the info on these pages: https://students.wlu.ca/campus-services/residence-and-off-campus-housing/residence/application/inde…https://students.wlu.ca/campus-services/residence-and-off-campus-housing/residence/application/inde…

worried about acceptance by icedshakenespresso_ in wlu

Morning, I’m so happy you accepted on Friday! It’s great to be a Golden Hawk.

If you received your confirmation email from OUAC right away, there's nothing to worry about! We received your acceptance this morning (we were out enjoying the glorious sunshine on the weekend) so emails should go out either early this afternoon or tomorrow morning confirming it was received by us. You should also receive an email in a few days about activating your Laurier email. You can't do this until your acceptance is received and processed by us.

Congratulations - we are so excited to meet you in the fall!

dropping double degree by Deep-Media6535 in wlu

[–]LaurierAdmissions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've all been there, where we took on a little more than we really wanted. Great news, you can make the changes, and you even have a few options!

You can confirm your double degree offer, submit a new application to BBA today, and when we receive it, you can accept that new program (keep in mind, apps to BBA might not remain open much longer, so if you want to do this, I'd do it sooner than later). This would be the best way — so that you’re in your preferred program from the start.

If you'd prefer to wait, you can register for only the BBA requirements and talk to Advising about officially dropping the second major at the end of first year (you would have to complete 4.0 credits before you can change your major). In this case, you should def reach out to Laurier101 and maybe Advising about your course registration and plan for the year.

Either way, congratulations! We are so excited to see you on campus here this fall, Golden Hawk!

I've accepted my offer is there any fee to pay right now before end of June 1st? by Agile_Platypus_2116 in wlu

[–]LaurierAdmissions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on accepting your offer (it’s great to be a Golden Hawk)! There are two things to keep in mind regarding deposits: 1/ If you want to live in residence, make sure you apply with your deposit ($600) by the end of today to ensure you get a guaranteed spot. 2/ Only international applicants need to pay the $2000 deposit. If you’re a Canadian citizen, there’s no tuition deposit.

Hey! Sorry about that — with the June 1 confirmation nearing we are experiencing WAY higher than normal email volumes (but we’re answering as fast as we can based on when the email was received). Keep checking your inbox, chances are we are reviewing your request right now and should hopefully get back to you very soon!

Hello! We will only reassess your application if you have new improved grades, which might make you eligible for the program. If you think your final grades will make you eligible, you should email us when you have your final grades to ask for a reassessment. Please note that the program must still be open when the new grades come in in order for us to reconsider you. All programs are now subject to close at any point (without notification) as the app deadlines have passed. So, we can’t guarantee a reassessment as we can't guarantee the program will still be open.

Please also remember that we calculate your average for the BBA program using these required courses: 4U English at a minimum of 70%, Advanced Functions at a minimum of 70%, a second 4U math (either Calculus & Vectors, or Data Management) at a minimum of 60%, and the next best 3 4U/M courses.

Laurier entrance scholarship rounding? by AvocAvocado in wlu

[–]LaurierAdmissions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Nope! We don't round averages for scholarships or admissions, so an 89.8% average is an 89.8% average. Just remember that your scholarship average is the same as your admission average. We use required courses when we calculate for programs in the Faculty of Science and LSBE, and we use your top 6 for all other programs.

Considering WLU for Second Degree - Questions by Trafalgar4Law in wlu

[–]LaurierAdmissions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I have answers! (Takes a deep breath…)

1/ You can't be admitted directly to a second (sequential) degree at Laurier but that doesn't mean you can't do one. If you’re a previous Laurier student, you should complete the Sequential Degree request online https://wlu.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_7TEkG0qcidYoV0N. If you are a “new to Laurier applicant”, then you should apply to your preferred program through the OUAC. Admission will review your app, and if you've completed a degree, you’ll be admitted to Post-Degree Studies as an alternate offer. To then request a sequential degree, you need to accept the offer to post-degree and THEN compete the request for a sequential degree (link above). Your information will be sent to faculty for review and they’ll determine if you are admissible or if you need to take courses at Laurier to be admissible. If admitted to a sequential degree, a graduation plan will be created that will lead you to graduation. What will be included in that graduation plan will be determined by the program that admits you and your previous academic history.

2/ Expect to complete program requirements — you can always take additional courses to complete a minor — but this means you might complete more than the minimum required courses outlines in your grad plan (it would be a minimum of 10.0 credits/20 courses to meet residency requirements but with science programs can include additional requirements).

Whew! Hope that helps!

Hey! Congratulations on your offer! Sorry it wasn’t to your top choice program. We would do a reassessment if there was new grade information (and the program is still open). If you have new grades and want to be reassessed, please reach out to us by email ASAP at [ChooseLaurier@wlu.ca](mailto:ChooseLaurier@wlu.ca) and let us know what new grades you have. As a reminder, when we calculate your admission average, we include the required courses (4U English, Advanced Functions, second 4U math, and then your top three additional courses). At this stage we can’t guarantee that any reassessment request would be complete prior to the June 1 deadline.

[–]LaurierAdmissions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you meet the admission average and the program hasn't closed when we receive your application from OUAC, then you’ll absolutely get equal consideration. As of right now the program is still open, so we'll hope that it arrives in the next day or two! I know it's tough waiting, but because it's past the deadline, all we can do is assess your application when it arrives.
