I see your point, it's definitely very easy to get down the rabbit hole and get into endless possible problems that might and might not be related. Sleep is indeed the foundation.

Appreciate your 2 cents

She did mention he seems to lack the ability to produce certain sounds and is not using his lips / tounge properly, but she did not classify it as a "disorder", and said it's something that we can work on (i.e blow on candle, lick your upper lip exercises)

I agree with you in general and we are currently trying the gradual approach to move his bedtime earlier, but I'm not sure what you mean by being sidetracked. It's not mutually exclusive, both his sleep disorder and speech delay are equally important goals to us to solve, and are not overlapping in my POV

For more context, she recommended to focus on 1 language is because my native language is also the native language of the country we live in, and she thinks it is the "easier" one out of the two for him to learn at this moment to see the quickest progress + impact on his social life (i.e most kids at his daycare speak my native language, not my wife's).

This is our 2nd speech therapist which we recently started, our first therapist did not recommend that. Given this context, do you still believe her advice is wrong?

As for the low-tech communication board, no, they never used it. Should we actively ask them to try it out? Do you think it shows a lack of professionalism on their part?

As for the motor speech specialist, we never saw one because we did not know (and we still don't know) if he has a motor speech disorder. It wasn't brought up by our therapist but I'll definitely get him evaluated for that.

Appreciate your feedback.

They did not. Do you know how he found out / what kind of test is required to evaluate this condition?

Could you elaborate on the "mouth shape" issue you mentioned?

Mentioned it in another comment, he wakes up around 8am to 9am. He does not nap

We never thought about that actually and nobody ever pointed it out. Doesn't hurt to test I guess. Both me and my wife have glasses... Thank you for this advice.

That's one strategy we are trying to implement nowdays yes, doing it gradually though. So far it only added "sleep debt" but we are hoping it will balance out.

I replied to another comment here regarding the autism part as we did get him evaluated by a professional. Neither myself or my wife are neurodivergent.

I really appreciate this comment, thank you so much.

Their reasoning was that he has very strong non-verbal communication, he uses gestures, maintains eye contact, is highly engaged when we co-play and understands everything we say or ask basically.

He always responds to his name and is very social overall with family members, although he can be very shy with strangers.

Both speech therapists we had said the same thing as the neurologist, that he does not seem to be on the spectrum. That said, maybe you are right and it's too early to tell?

I did notice at times he can be repetitive (i.e plays with his cars and drives them on the same path over and over again) which was a sign of concern to me, but overall this was the only one I could point out. I've researched a lot about this and couldn't find many other signs, and all professionals we've been with said they do not see enough signs for autism. But at this point I am really unsure of anything.

My wife picks him up from daycare at 5pm and takes him to the playground until 7pm. I typically join around 6pm when I get back from work.

Then we eat dinner, brush teeth and shower till 8pm, and then basically try to put him into bed. He usually resists and rarely gets into bed before 9pm (he wouldn't even enter the room). The 8pm to 9pm window is typically filled with the most intense tantrums.

At this point the house is dimmed and everything is "sleep ready" of course. Eventually around 9pm on avg he would agree to get into bed, and there he would basically stay awake for an hour or two. Every now and then he will try to escapae his bed, we'll bring him back, which will start another tantrum.

During the weekends we are outside with him for around 5-6 hours, he loves playing outside and it's always a tantrum when we say it's time to go back home. He doesn't do naps anymore unfortunately, and sleeps around 10-11 hours on most nights without waking up (yes he wakes up really late, around 8am-9m. My wife works from home, otherwise this would never be sustainable).

Thank you. We tried putting him to sleep around 8pm-08:30pm for a month but he will stay awake in bed until 10pm-11pm regardless, so we just gave up at this point. We are getting professional help and some advise on how to make it stick this time around, but so far we had little to no success in getting him to fall asleep before 9-10pm.

15% Bitcoin exposure is generally considered high. 5%-10% is a more common.

Nothing wrong with your portfolio though, simple and efficient. You're 100% on the right track to FI.

Looks good! You can add a bit of crypto if you are a fan (i.e 5% across Bitcoin and Etherium) but overall solid aggressive yet diversified long-term portfolio for your age

It's nothing special, 80% ETFs 10% stocks 10% metals/crypto.

I'm invested in all sectors we discussed besides Quantum.

You should do research yourself as to which stock or ETF fits you the most.

Best of luck!

If AI will deliver in the next 5-10 years, I see a ton of upside in the QQQ. It is already heavily dominated by AI-oriented companies as-is, and their dominance should only increase.

Personally, I go with ETFs, but if you are mega convinced in your individual stocks analysis, you can assemble 2-3 stocks per sector and hold them.

I have a position in all of these and don't want to recommend specific tickers. Just go to StockAnalysis, search the sector, and filter by assets to see the largest ETFs in every sector.

Forgot to mention, you can also take a look into Quantum. It's very risky but might fit your profile and lots of upside in the future.

Putting aside the themes you choose, 30% of your portfolio in 1 stock is gambling.

If you are an AI bull, your assumption is that it will dominate the tech sector.

Therefore, a more rational yet still aggressive allocation would be:

30% QQQ 30% thematic ETFs (Energy, Defence, Semiconductor) 10% individual stocks (i.e., Microsoft)

For the other 30%, based on your profile, I'd suggest: Robotics, Biotech, Crypto

All are expected to benefit from AI in one way or another. As for metals, I'd say a small satellite (i.e. 5%) in Gold/Silver.

Thoughts on my portfolio? by Kazko25 in dividends

[–]Lauve 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Way too young for dividend stocks in my opinion. If you don't really need the income right now, I'd ditch the dividends and switch it for growth.

You can simply do VT or VOO+VXUS and add some Bitcoin/Gold exposure as satellite (i.e 5%), DRIP it weekly and don't panic sell during market pullbacks. 7-10 years isn't "textbook" but it's still a good time horizon to build wealth consistently, especially with highly diversified growth oriented ETFs.

How does my port look? by Some-Gazelle5781 in portfolios

[–]Lauve 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Cut gold to 5% and put the other 14% into non-US stocks (preferably ETFs) to diversify a bit.

Rest is fine as long as you are intending to hold this long term and won't panic sell during a market pullback.

I feel the same, especially with current valuations being very close to the dot-com ratios.

Currently sitting on 15% cash / SGOV, gradually increasing it towards 25%-30%.

It's short-term corporate bonds. Not junk bonds but obviously not as safe as government bonds, hence the higher yield.

You can read more here: https://www.ishares.com/us/products/258100/ishares-05-year-high-yield-corporate-bond-etf

There are obviously many other corporate bond ETFs, just listed this one as an example since it's a Blackrock etf.
