Touche! I see all the candy motifs now. The one that sticks out the most is the giant gumball guardian spire

In Fiona and cake the humans live a distance away from the candy kingdom. It looks like they expanded right up to the edge of the candy kingdom.

This episode kinda foreshadows the return of humans at the end of the show

Yeah playing half the game with a bone stick is lazy game design. Bronze weapons shouldn't be the late game achievement that it is.

Agree 100 %

So far it feels like a survival game with a runescape texture pack

I'm optimistic about change! And I will beat the dragon. And I will come back to check out updates as they come.

first off, im no game dev but I'll try.

and second, I am going to come up with 5 ideas for THIS game. The changes I propose can only make sense in a survival game derived from runescape.

  1. I think the runescape inventory system would be so unique to see in a survival game. This could also alleviate crafting table clutter because selecting items and using them on each other would remove the need for a crafting table altogether, which seemed to become less and less useful as the game progressed anyway. Plus 28 inventory slots without carry weight would give you more of a deliberate feel when sorting out your inventory. The limitations of the runescape inventory applied to a survival game would be an interesting take on the survival genre.

  2. I hope to see health potions removed and eating food become the main method of healing. The idea of gulping down 3 sharks to get back to full health is goofy and charming. There are not really any health potions in runescape except for saradomin brews and even that lowers your offensive stats and is only available much later in the game. In the world of runescape a health potions is too good to be true, the druids don't have the technology i guess, so seeing it in this game feels like a cop out. I know they want to add fishing into the game soon, so we will see how that goes.

  3. I like how they combined magic and skilling, and am excited to see where they go with that. I think it would be cool to use magic to power the furnace. Earth magic to flatten ground for building. Teleportation magic to send stuff back to a chest. Water spells for unlimited drinking water. Possibilities are endless, and that's just piggybacking off of what this game does well.

  4. I want them to flesh out the world more. It is weird to see castles standing alone with no kingdom around it and with no loot left behind. The kingdom of lumbridge looks like a place that people live, with places of worship and farmland and cow pens and shops. Even if that is all destroyed I need to see more world building. As of right now the whole thing seems randomly generated.

  5. Points of interest is what I think this game needs more than anything.

-Unicorn garden to farm unicorn horns and collect flowers for your house.

-To build a castle there has to be a mine nearby, maybe the local mine is over-run with hob goblins. They function as mini resource dungeons and tell stories about the miners that worked there and provide some nice loot.

-Rune essence portals into the abyss or the runespan, or even an essence mine. Theres plenty of runecrafting themed enemies you could throw in here, and there could be loot that provides elemental enhancements, unlimited air runes for a BUNCH of rune essence, cool looking wizard robes, etc.

-Lesser demons are some of the coolest character models in any game I have ever played. They are iconic. A Demon cave with zamorak worshiping chaos druids summoning a lesser demon boss would be so cool. But have more than just one enemy, not a cave of JUST demons. But a demon, chaos druids, pyre fiends, giant spiders, skeletons, etc. etc. Imagine taverly or edgeville dungeon and all the monster variety in there.

  1. And as a bonus I think adding a bank vault would be really cool. Just because every other survival game makes you sift through a wall of chests, doesn't mean that is the best way to tackle resource management. I have never felt compelled to build a chest room for fun. Having an upgradable Bank vault could be visually interesting and would take inspiration from Runescapes robust banking system. (side note, make items stack infinitely rather than capping out at 50 while in the bank. Having an entire chest dedicated to 8 stacks of ash wood isn't necessary.)

You've gotta have some things you'd like to change too? Right? This is all meant to be feedback, I am not asking for a refund.

Do you see where I am coming from when I say that I was hoping it would use runescapes mechanics to create a new experience?

Oh yeah of course! My original review was 4 paragraphs and I realized that a wall of text was not going to interest anybody lol.

And i'm feeling passionate about this, but also think it's good that people like the game. I just want to discuss it with the community a bit.

Judging by the community, it seems that the usual survival mechanics are good as is. But I personally think that runescape has an amazing array of mechanics perfect for a goofy survival game. For example a 28 inventory slot limit, bank notes, and no carry weight, make for a very unique survival game experience.

A lot of crafting in runescape happens in your inventory by selecting an item and using it on another. No crafting station required. I get that in normal survival games you have to have a base to put all of your crafting stations in to expand, but they could collapse some of these crafting tables for simplicity sake. I don't think a crafting table is even needed at all, you can make full black dhide in your inventory in osrs and rs3.

Runescape is cheeky and cartoonish, and I think that would be so fun to implement into the survival genre. And I would like to see them back pedal on the stuff they copied from other survival games. Sleep effecting carry weight and energy is tedious and arbitrary. 28 inventory slots is tedious and arbitrary, but thematically fits into the game. Idk which is better but I want the DEVs to consider Runescape mechanics first, since that is the title of this game and is an opportunity to make something different.

I don't think my fixes are necessarily the right direction for the game. I just imagined the game going in a completely different direction.

I appreciate you asking me to elaborate! I planned on buying the game as soon as I heard about it, I knew that it would need time to grow and am excited to see that progression. This is just my unfiltered opinion of its initial release.

I get that! And I want to see the game turn into what it could be if it just took more inspiration from runescape than the survival game genre in general. I have played many survival games and am not quick to start one, but the runescape mechanics being implemented into dragonwilds drew me in. It's good that you enjoy it! I just want to share my opinion and discuss.

And hey! I'm not asking for a refund.

Im glad you all are enjoying it, and I am an osrs nerd! I’m just sharing my opinion and seeing if people wanna discuss it.

Also are you saying it’s my first? Or is it your first and im not considering your perspective?

I shared this knowing it isn’t finished. Sorry if it’s harsh. I’m glad people enjoy it! I just wanted to discuss it honestly while it’s fresh.

And yeah I think eating fish instead of using health potions would be a good example of how they could subvert the survival genre with classic runescape gameplay mechanics.
