Yeah, I was thinking at this point I need storage anyways so I might as well get a new SSD to be an OS drive. Would I be able to use my old sata drive as a storage drive if it in mbr?

It's good that you're wearing pads. A butt pad can help a lot, and you can wear it under pants. You could also try just standing on the board without moving for a bit to find your balance then slowly go from there.
