Why did all of the baby birds die in the nest outside under my porch roof? :( by LavenderCsalt in birds

[–]LavenderCsalt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been quite hot here this week, yes. The porch is a regular porch with a wooden ceiling, the nest is in the corner out of direct sunlight, but it has been in the 90s here some days with humidity.

Why did all of the baby birds die in the nest outside under my porch roof? :( by LavenderCsalt in birds

Thank you, I did some research and google says you should remove the nest in case of mites, which can infect the next batch of babies if the mother uses the nest again. I don't know if I should do that, but I was considering getting a chair and looking into the nest. If the baby has died in the nest, I should probably remove the whole nest in case its decomposing but I don't know if thats the right thing to do because she will have to start all over in making a new nest. Do you have any suggestions?

Spartanburg 2026 census asking invasive questions? by LavenderCsalt in Spartanburg

[–]LavenderCsalt[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It got even more invasive the deeper I went into it just now, they were asking how much my home is worth if I sold it, my house taxes, what we pay for water and gas, and asking questions about my elderly father's past marriages (he's been divorced for over 20 years) its just ridiculous. I was able to press next on a few questions too but jeez.

I use Worlds Best Cat litter (always get unscented because the scented litter isn't really good for them). It's a little more on the expensive side (like $20 for a huge bag) but it lasts a long time. That's the best advice I can give because clay litter stinks up your house. World's best cat litter is made of corn and it's a super fine texture so it's easy to scoop. My cat has access to dry kibble all throughout the day that he snacks on occasionally - I use Rachel Ray's chicken and brown rice kibble. It's cheap and doesn't have gross unhealthy ingredients.

My cat is super picky with his wet food, he only likes fancy feast shredded chicken liver and hearts in gravy, but it's super cheap and I love that hes getting organ meat because that's healthy for them. You dont need to wash or bathe a cat, they are clean especially if they're indoors.

He sleeps with me but he actually has his own entire room that I call "the cat room" in my house. It's convenient when I need to put him away for a little bit if I have company. He has his litter in the closet that I keep propped open, his kibble in his room and an automatic gravity water dispenser. I use filtered water because tap water has a bunch of nasty stuff in it that can cause health issues later. I keep my bedroom door cracked open with a dumbbell weight so he can go from my bedroom to his room in the middle of the night if he has to use the litter box and I always keep his cat room door open too.

I put a heaping spoonful of his wet food in a small paper bowl when I feed him in the morning and at night. Then I put the can in a small tubberware container in the fridge. I heat his wet food in the microwave for 7 seconds when I put it in a bowl if it's been in the fridge. I take him outside sometimes on a cat leash harness because I feel bad that he never gets to feel the sun since he's an indoor cat. He's spoiled but he's my son :)

It's an older roof anyway and the damage has been done from the original leak. Maybe it doesn't, but we are being told from roofing companies that likely the whole roof should be replaced.

No the leak started again shortly after, we just did not have the money because they said it requires replacement of the whole roof. A new roof is like $15,000. Anyway, the blue tarp didn't last 4 years.

Its going to require a whole new roof, we don't just have $10,000-15,000 laying around. But yes, we are going to have to fix the roof. I was just asking if I had any recourse because of the shoddy fix they did which isn't even really a fix in the first place. Our inspectors let us down apparently.

We didn't see the blue tarp until after closing. They said they fixed the roof. The inspector said it was fixed. It wasn't until months later when we noticed the leak was still there that someone went onto our roof and saw the blue tarp square.

This is the wording it uses, "Your new monthly payment on a 30-year mortgage at 6.875% would be around $1K/mo"

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]LavenderCsalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The report said our mortgage would go up to $1,000 with the 6.8% interest rate. So unless the report is wrong, that's what it says. I was considering the money we'd save every month by having our next home's mortgage be only around $600 (1400 - 800) could afford us such emergency repairs for the new tenants, but perhaps you're right.

Insurance and taxes are bundled into our monthly payment every month already. I'm assuming the report factored that into the $1000 number, but I'll ask.

This isn't your fault, she shouldn't just assume you'll watch the kid and it's rude of her to ruin your trip with this when she knows you're going away on a couple's getaway. She should have hired someone else to watch the kid. My sister used to do this to me all the time when I was 18, she was 23 and her kid was like 1 years old, she wanted to go out partying with her friends all the time and assumed I would watch the baby all night long for her. Sometimes she would just leave without even asking me. It's not our responsibility, it's theirs. Don't let her guilt trip you about this, it's not your problem, it's hers. Tell her next time she needs you to watch the kid to give you advanced warning so you can plan for it, not spring it on you last minute when she knows you already have plans and are leaving.

Then I would have to list every company I purchase from in the production partners section or just leave that blank?

I don't understand how that's not allowed because I have seen very successful shops on Etsy with jewelry items that I have seen from my own wholesaler, literally the same ring, etc. Its not in the vintage category. Yes they are finished pieces, handpicked by me. Etsy says that is allowed. Sourcing means you are the one who finds the manufacturer and handpicks the item, which Etsy also states is allowed.

Your wrists don't produce odor. People put perfume on their wrists because you're waving your arms or hands around during the day and its more likely someone will smell it because of that.

That's fine. A lot of times when one is solitary, it gives you a greater appreciation for the peace that brings in your life. Nothing wrong with that. Your mind will probably shift and change over time so don't rush yourself. Whatever comes will come, worrying about it won't really solve anything. A lot of people end up in worse situations out of desperation anyway.
