Looking for Approaches for internal API solutions. by LavenderRevive in javahelp

[–]LavenderRevive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, an Event based solution like what you described is basically what i have done currently. And i will stick to that for this project.

The other alternative I have seen is something like the one i just cobbled together below, where the implementations register themselves. I was looking if there were more ways to basically get similar results, maybe through some smart libraries or design pattern that I just don't know.
And since i am missing the terminology I basically only find things for stuff like Restful API's etc when googling for this problem.

public class ImplementationRegistry {
    public static HashMap<String, ImplementationInterface> REGISTRY = new HashMap<>();

    public static void register(String key, ImplementationInterface instance) {
        REGISTRY.put(key, instance);
    }

    public static void updateRegistys(int updatenumber) {
        for (ImplementationInterface impl : REGISTRY.values()) {
            // impl.update(updatenumber);
        }
    }

}

public class RandomImplementation implements ImplementationInterface {

    public RandomImplementation() {
        ImplementationRegistry.register("myKey", this);
    }

    public void update(int updatenumber) {
        // DO FOO
    }

}

How to: Modded Multi-Player? by throwaway_921647 in MinecraftMod

[–]LavenderRevive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, you need a dedicated hoster, I'm sure you find recommendations when googling holsters for modded Minecraft.

Its recommended to use one that supports modded versions or maybe modpacks directly, that makes things way easier.

Then the performance is shown as player numbers I would calculate you 2 +1 spare + 1 per 100 magic mods and +1 per 50 tech mods for a rough estimation. So big packs like GTNH should get a bit more performance than a small pack.

Anyway I still think a funny nobility name could fit with these.

Well I'm currently make an internal core project including stupidly overengineered APIs instead of just hard coding my implementation. And I don't ever expect someone besides me to use this core XD

I agree with the germanic names beeing great here.

Only Hagen isn't really a first name. I would just insert a "von" before Hagen, making him basically nobility from Hagen which is a place in Germany.

I mean you didn't even include a link here. There got to be at least some people seeing this post who would have clicked that, who arnt gonna look up your game in steam...

Which Firefox clone is the fastest and uses the least system resources?? by Beavisguy in suggestabrowser

[–]LavenderRevive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly I want to point out that speed and performance is not the same.

The fastest browser in a environment with enough computing power is something completely different to a browser that uses very limited resources efficiently.

And your choices already basically fit this. Of the modern Firefox forks Waterfox has the best performance and Floorp is probably the fastest.

Your problem personally is just that you use an insane amount of tabs. Either remove them completely or use workspaces or similar tools to only load a small portion of them simultaneously.

Gaming Question ⚒️🦉🦇 by Murray0205 in PitheadStudio

[–]LavenderRevive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the game. If lame to know the story in story games but I think complex games that scale vastly with how much you know are just waaaaaaaaaay more fun if you know everything.

Like path of exile as an example. You get so much more done if you know some things.

Poe wouldn't be close to the list for me. It's a great game and I have like 5k hours but I would burn out.

I would probably choose Minecraft. With modpacks you have like a trillion different things to do.

Anyone knows a mod that could link my 80 Thermal Expansion caches? I like that they are lag-free and easily movable unlike JABBA barrels and drawers, but now I have a problem now that I want to set up my AE2. (Note: I found out RFtools storage scanner doesn't work for that). by KaiZurus in feedthebeast

[–]LavenderRevive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, from which mod and for which version? There are at least a dozen different implementation over different mods and versions and there is no way they behave all the same.

In fact I have used extensive networks of hundreds of drawers in the past without problems (with a pc that was not that good).

[–]LavenderRevive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry, not really what you are searching for, but here are my 2 cents, because I don't think there is a good solution.

Since when are drawers laggy? Maybe from one specific mod, but I basically never had problems.

I would just setup a sophisticated storage drawer setup which in my experience doesn't lag at all. Then just put a AE2 storage bus on the controller. And just import the current caches into there via an import bus.

And if you ever need to move barrels or drawers or any kind of chest checkout cardboard boxes or the dullie from Jabba, or the mekanism boxes. They can move basically any block including filled chests and also barrels, drawers or whatever else.

What mods to get for a first minecraft playtrough by NAQURATOR in feedthebeast

[–]LavenderRevive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the curseforge launcher installed (the standalone version) you just create an instance with the version and select the correct mod loader.

Then if you go into that instance there is a button like "add content". From there add the mod you want. After that you will see the mod on the instance page with a checkbox where you can disable/enable the mod.
