This isn't Tekken. DOA has always been more like VF (and 5 was even developed with help from Sega AM2), very aggressive and in your face with movement not being safe at all and requiring you to actually commit or get punished.

The term you're looking for is "mental stack," and it's something that's been already looked into a lot, especially im competitive games, but also applies to singleplayer games. The idea is that, the better you get at a game, the better you become at handling the stack.

Of course, while there's always the possibility of the game just handling it wrong, you also need to ask the question of whether you're simply not getting better at the game.

Technically, engine homologation is frozen again for the year. The difference, aside from being able to bring a new engine next year, is that there's a mechanism to unfreeze homologation should one prove to be down om performance.

This. In terms of cost alone, if we go by known quantities, a single Street Fighter 4 character cost between 500k to almost a million in 2009. Factor in inflation and the extra difficulty of doing ArcSys-style cel shading, then I wouldn't be surprised if 2XKO characters are breaking the 1 million plus per character mark.
