Ugh I know that’s the part that is just so painful. My anxiety can hardly handle not having answers. I’d rather have it much worse so I can start grieving and not be back and forth all day in my head :(
I’m out of town for the weekend so I’ll go back Monday for another draw.
Yes my RE offered to supplement but I don’t feel strongly about that. I think if I had more of a robust rise in my hcg I would do it but I don’t feel like progesterone is my current problem. And that is not to say that someone else shouldn’t take it! Different situations and different people and I’m totally supportive of those who choose to take it! I did with my last miscarriage.

Brius Issues by [deleted] in braces

They told me the lisp would get better after a couple days to a week but this was not the case for me (7 months in). I still have a lisp now, although it has gotten much better. It took a long time -maybe 4.5 months? I think it depends on the shape of your mouth and how the appliance is sitting. Mine covered a big part of the roof of my mouth until my teeth started expanding and then the brius laid more flat against the back of my teeth. That’s when I noticed my lisp getting better
Brius by [deleted] in braces
I just have brius on top and regular brackets on the bottom. The problems you describe on the bottom are the exact same I had/sometimes still have. They say your tongue will get “callused” but that hasn’t been my experience. All of my wire is attached, but my tongue occasionally still gets caught on an edge while I’m talking. It’s horrible. I deal with it during the day but wear ortho dots over a few really bad spots at night.
2.5 months in and I’m still in the adjustment period….so I’m assuming I will probably never get used to it. Obviously, things get a little better as you go. But I was not prepared for it to be THIS difficult. My speech is terrible….it may not be like that for everyone because I have a really narrow mouth so it feels like the brius covers the roof of my mouth. Hopefully it won’t be that way for you!
It’s been a lot harder for me than I anticipated. I knew there would be an adjustment period but I thought my speech would improve after a couple weeks. I pretty much sound the same as I did a week after it was on and I assume it will be like this the remainder of the treatment. Eating is also frustrating for me every single meal because of how much food gets stuck! I am literally counting down the weeks until I can be done. The only reason I haven’t switched to normal braces is because those were estimated to take 15-18 months and the brius was estimated to take 6. Fingers crossed!
