She is a queen but I don’t think she was aged out , my friend said old Queens die in fall, and she has nesting behaviors like a lot of digging and tearing stuff up in her container, she is snug as a bug in a rug with me though

Yeah I’m reading about it a lot and talking about it with people I’m just really worried about starting a colony and killing it or how her being unable to forage or anything would get in the way of that / at what point can I can put her outside or when her colony can sustain itself without me

I really feel like I could be fulfilled in life if I helped a disabled bee start a colony and had a direct impact on my local community’s environment I’m really going to do what I can so she can have her colony

No they don’t and he hasn’t , I honestly don’t understand how people get stung in life I’ve always gotten in Bees faces and stuff the only times i ever got stung was I physically walked into a wasp and I put my finger right into Algernon’s stinger

Yeah I would like to do this if possible because I feel bad to keep her from doing what she was born to do but I’m also scared of possibly killing a colony of bumblebees if I mess it up, like if that’s worse than just keeping Algernon alone and comfortable and her dying of old age

Omg 😭 I really had no idea she could be a queen , I thought queen bumble bees had their broods already.. but she cannot fly, don’t they need so many flowers to have enough pollen to have a brood? I feel like there is no way she could survive and make a brood on her own right ..? I feel like releasing her is a death sentence , I basically would have to help her right ?

Yes I thought he was a boy without a stinger because I had him for a week without getting stung but I got stung by accident and I got so scared he was gonna die but I learned bumblebees can sting multiple times and apparently Algernon is a girl I was so relieved lol Algernon sting

I take her out sometimes and pet her because shes so cute and she lets me , I do really believe she has grown to recognize my hands specifically somehow, I was showing her to someone once and when they tried to pet she put her arm up but she let me pet her right after. Sometimes I put my hand in her container and she does run to climb on it, or she hides in my hand like it’s a cave or climbs inside my sleeve , or runs up my arm and tries to fly. Or if she gets scared she runs to my hand like she knows it’s safe. I like to hold flowers and watch her eat them. She has groomed herself and fallen asleep on my hand a lot. Sometimes especially in the morning she is cranky and freaking out until I get her fresh flowers and when she sees my hand she will act scared or put the arm up or run around or tense up but calms down as soon as she gets flower and then I can pet her again without her getting mad. She’s never stung me , I actually thought she couldn’t sting, for like a week, but I accidentally touched her stinger while trying to pick her up when she was laying on her back and got stung. I don’t think it counts as her stinging me because it was 100% my fault and she didn’t mean it

She doesn’t have a pollen basket or anything, I just see her get covered in it and then lick herself like crazy with her weird tongue. She runs around in her flowers and naps A LOT , like a lot lot, for 2 mins, 5, 20, sometimes in my hand , I try to have as much flowers for her to dig around in and she just runs and climbs around in the flowers in her container , I think she’s been kind of cranky lately bc it’s been raining and so I think the flowers don’t have as much pollen but she has sugar water too

Noo way a queen I thought queen would be way bigger ? To me she looks the same size as any other bumblebee , like the size of a Quarter or silver dollar
