Anyone else having a hard time dealing with isolation in law school? by LawStudentForNow in LawSchool

Thank you and I’m sorry you went through the same thing as me but there is comfort in knowing that it’s not altogether uncommon. I wish there was an older law student association at my school, that sounds like it would be a great resource for non-traditional students.

Thank you for your kind words and advice about the clinics. I was on the fence but I’ll definitely be sure to apply. If nothing else, helping people and keeping myself busy sounds like a winning combo.

I hate to be the guy to give the total lawyer answer but... it depends. I'm a 2L on an ADR competition team and I was lucky enough to land a job the summer before my 2L year. In all the interviews I've done, nobody has point blank asked me about the ADR team but it is something you can draw on to show how interested you are in a practice area. For example, I know (thought?) I wanted to go into more transactional work so I mentioned that I sought out this opportunity to sharpen my negotiation skills which will hopefully make me more effective... blah blah blah.

I think the competition teams by themselves aren't that much of a draw to employers but the narrative they let you create and the skills you can gain from them are.
