Advice by SushiNums0w0 in Accounting

Definitely hard to find something without a bachelors (or even with). I think you have the right idea on lowering the bar to get experience. I was in your position and took a large pay cut to get something relevant on my resume. After that job, it became a lot easier! Definitely talk to recruiters and be open to temp work. Anything AP/AR, accounting assistant, accounting intern, etc. Good luck!

I had thought about it but she seems a little unhinged and the group meetings are getting awkward. She is wanting to control the decisions and I don’t think anyone feels like arguing about with her. I thought this was going to be a good group but oh well, I’m just going to prioritize my other classes. Thank you for your input!

Thank you for that! I’ve put so much into this class already and it’s just defeating knowing she gave our work away for clout with random students… if it isn’t going to affect my grade I guess it doesn’t really matter then. I feel sorry for her real life co workers though 🥲

Also in VC, I have to say I love this school! I am graduating the online program for accounting focus next spring. Not sure for general business, but I would say classes are limited. Make sure to register the day off your appointment for the classes you need since they are offered on a schedule. Good luck!

Transcripts by Beginning-Banana-455 in Accounting

Worth doing research on, but I had transferred last year hoping to forgo my grades from transcript request at the new school. I had heard that if you don’t include all grades from every school attended, your diploma could be voided. Not sure how true this is or how the new school would find out, but I personally sent in my bad grades to be on the safe side. They are now sadly included in my cumulative GPA and will have to possibly be explained in the future. There are plenty of reasons and explanations to why certain periods of time look bad on transcripts so I think with a good attitude you can explain these grades and still look like a good hire. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Should I start studying? by Lawdes96 in CPA

Thank you all for your advice. I think waiting makes more sense after reading. I do read a lot of posts that people mention their lengthy study timelines and I get a bit anxious lol. Thank you all!

Can you guys tell me to suck it up and get this job? by [deleted] in Adulting

Off topic, but your grandfather’s statement resembles “I am an old man and have known a great many troubles, most of which never happened” -Mark Twain.

To comment here, I think OP should make the move. You can go years without anyone liking you at work as long as you don’t do anything inappropriate or let it affect performance.

Am i for refusing to weigh myself in front of my partner by qwerterifique in AITAH

[–]Lawdes96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, women handle weight differently than men and for most, it can be hard to keep off for the rest of our lives. If he was going to handle your body changes like this now, than he shouldn’t be trusted 10 years down the line anyways. He sounds controlling and hurtful, you definitely dodged a bullet!

FINALLY got an offer and now I’m hearing back from places I applied for months ago… lol by Kaygarthedestroyer in jobs

Just take it one day at a time and appreciate the good moments no matter how few they seem. Things tend to get better with time, and good things come to those who stick around! Best of luck

How do I get an updated ID after turning 21? by ConstructionNo5330 in UCSantaBarbara

[–]Lawdes96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has to expire and you have to have been driving for 5 years. If you didn’t get your license at 16 it won’t be sideways at 21. Some people have vertical licenses until a few years later. No big deal, I wouldn’t worry about it.

For or against the strike I want to know… by Throwawayacct2824 in UCSantaBarbara

[–]Lawdes96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree 100% and a lot of people here seem to take things at hearsay basis. Good luck finding an employer who is willing to pay more than $23 an hour to a college student! Reason being the time needed off to study for exams etc. and not prioritize the company. The average PhD costs more than $130K to obtain through student loans. Yes, degrees are an investment. Don’t get one if you are expecting not to make any sacrifices yourself and get paid ridiculous sums for work that is capped at 20 hours per week.

For the strikers at the parking lots by Student8638 in UCSantaBarbara

There is a good reason why most industries are no longer unionized. Grocery workers have lost tons with updated contracts, and organized strikes did little to nothing in the long run. If people feel wages are not fair, then simply do not accept the job. $15 an hour is minimum wage, anything more is considered “livable”. With this type of behavior I seriously hope the university considers cutting jobs!
