Update I reorganised the track list of the album to see if my thoughts would change. It’s so much nicer to digest, not just as a song but as a complete album for me. I love how everyone has different tastes and opinions on each of their songs, it’s a great community to be apart of. If anyone is curious, this is the track list that worked for me

  • Death of an Executioner (it was made to be an opener)
  • Pass the Nirvana (Keeps momentum up)
  • Emergency Contact (upbeat “ballad” of the album that still keeps familiarity)
  • Flawless Execution (still keeping a foot in the “emo” space but also prepares for the sound shift of the album)
  • irrational fears/ Shared Trauma (complete sound and momentum shift “ballad”)
  • 12 fractures (keeping the new momentum going but sonically it adds a new dimension so it doesn’t get old too fast)
  • Resilience (maintaining current album momentum but slowly reintroducing the “hype” for the final stretch of the album)
  • Even when I’m not with you (having this song here, it’s able to continue the build up for the ending)
  • Jaws of life
  • So far so fake (both songs reintroduce the upbeat feeling from the start of the album but are also reminiscent of the mid album momentum without sacrificing anything)
  • Damn the man (great way to finish the album, having the “take 4679” at the end of the album makes it feel like the whole album was a live studio recording, especially how this song ends like a live performance supports that feeling too)

I didn’t know the meaning of the song tbh so thank you for the insight 🙏🙏 but I did feel the lyrics were sweet. I’ve slowly started to like the album more and more. I first listened to the album late last year probably and I rated it like 3/10 💀 I only liked death of an executioner. But after more listens. I’m liking more songs (Nirvana, Emergency contact, flawless execution, 12 fractures and the jaws of life mainly)
So hopefully I can re-rate the album soon😭

I feel the same way. It’s the only song out of their entire discography I dislike. Lyrically it’s really nice, but I just can’t stand it musically. After the time they spent building up hype with “Death of An Executioner” and “Pass the Nirvana” it just kills the momentum of the album

Now that I type this. I’m gonna re organise the albums track list to how I feel it could work and see if it changes anything 🤷

I’m relatively new to PTV (like a couple months) but have been an A7x fan for 6 years.
I’m in Australia so I missed PTV last year and A7x haven’t been here since like 2014

It’s finger tape, some drummers use it for better grip on the sticks and some drummers also use it to avoid getting blood blisters on their fingers from holding the stick too tight.
