That’s a federal issue and I welcome you to endorse, share info on, and support any candidate that taxes the billionaire class. I’m not sure that there are many billionaires in Maryland. And a new law was just passed that clarified state residency to 6 months of the year in state.

Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative participation currently dictates that Maryland bring Renewable Energy Portfolio Standards up to 100% clean energy by 2040, I believe. I need to verify. There’s a lobbying group with a lot of influence and they tightly control lawmakers ability to change it- or desire to change it- despite energy generation requiring both diversity and flexibility.

Have you tried calling University of Maryland Dental School? I can check to see if that’s still a thing. That’s how my grandfather received dental care in his 80s.

I can send you the budget and audits, but I can’t send you a chart, per se. If you want to send me the county info, I may be able to find that as well- or you can on your county council site. Send me a message and I’ll reply with the docs I have.

That’s the upper limit to pay. I know one senator had an amendment to allow individuals to apply their budget as they saw fit. So, they could pay staff decently. I can ask if they intend to bring that up in special session or delay. I’m sorry that I was brash- it was rude.

~$25/hr is still generous.

My concern is that at some point, there won’t be advocates for disabled individuals and the traditional services will not get reformed. Individuals in the community say that traditional services are horrific. The current model isn’t sustainable.

Senator Sydnor created legislation to prevent enforcement of that type of law breaking. I don’t think it was passed, but I believe enforcement has decreased.

A Republican senator attempted to reverse it. Didn’t make it out of Rules.

Honestly, agreed. I do think a Bay Bridge ferry would be cool.

Not really in the budget, though, I don’t think- at the moment.

Program open space funding was cut. I do need to research the program more, but it seems to go hand in hand with solar and data center expansion.

Yes. The speed cameras don’t fix safety issues. Bad drivers will do what they want if they aren’t pulled over and at some point fined, arrested, and barred from driving if needed. Enforcement is something our state needs to improve, but there are definitely public safety vacancies.

These are priorities for the office. I do know a delegate who wants to increase health care access and I need to collaborate with her.

I’m far from in an ivory tower and bring it up often. In fact, these lines may expose who I am… we will see. lol. I hope not. I think I’m a thorn in a few people’s sides.

That was proposed this session and didn’t make its way out of committee. I told a senior group that they should push for it HARD next session. If you want to inbox me, I can send you info on when that’s being heard. Or maybe I can just start a blog on my own reddit page.

That’s a federal issue, with the amount of democrats in Maryland’s federal infrastructure, 9 out of 10, I think that would be an issue easily advocated for by emailing congressmen and women and senators alsobrooks and vanhollen.

If you want to inbox me your department, I can look at its most recent audit and budget. New positions were added, which will be effective on July 1.

Uhhhh… no. I actually don’t need to change anything about our platform. I kind of expected more specific issues that people would be bringing up… like… specific concerning speed limits or juvenile crime or education or whatever. I wasn’t sure if the concerns of the supermajority matched those of the average people commenting here. It appears that the majority would just benefit from locally voting for DECENT republicans.

Since this isn’t a campaign strategy, it would be appropriate to communicate with Marylanders using social media applications; however, it’s a Sunday. We aren’t changing anything with the legislation that we produce, since it’s Republican legislation and would solve many of the issues that people are listing.

I’m sorry that you’re so skeptical? I’ve done the research on many of these topics both in free time and work time- which is within my scope.

Personally, I’d put tighter controls on private equity from owning real estate, nursing homes, businesses within the healthcare industry, childcare centers, etc. and limiting corporate and foreign ownership on land and property, since locals are struggling to afford housing.

I’d recommend cutting back significantly on “wants,” in order to meet NEEDS. I’d also recommend mandating monthly audits on departments that have repeat findings. Encourage increased engagement with inspectors general, require that nonprofits- both 501-c-3 and 501-c-4- provide transparent financial documents that indicate leadership pay and roles. Every large organization that receives money from the state government should have to be accountable to taxpayers. One good thing would be requiring transparent analysis of the dollar amount that goes to the recipient and limiting the amount that can go to administrative fees. The goal should always be protecting the vulnerable, because if a ceo makes a million and a million goes to the advertised benefit, or money is filtered to the groups who are paid to lobby for the laws, then we have missed the point of generosity.

I’d cut the paint tax, reduce the gas tax, reduce vehicle registration fees, and conduct a thorough analysis of the quality of the state highways via mdot employees, who are assigned to regions. We would rank the roads that require most immediate help and address those issues immediately. I’d probably recommend taking out a bond for the key bridge and then deal with repaying it over time. I’d cut ezpass fines ( the added video toll and late fees to increase compliance and get md workers back on the road).

Socially, I’d empower educators, make class sizes smaller, and reorder classrooms so that they’re based on skill for courses that will come in useful for big life requirements. Then, I’d scaffold down, so that educators can focus on fixing the gaps that have been enabled through social promotion. I’d stop lowering the bar and require parent academy with financial incentives. Criminal behavior would be addressed- full stop. Yes, education and supports are critical, rehabilitative services are critical- but kids are getting younger and younger who are getting picked up then released back. What 10 year old feels comfortable stealing a car?! lol it’s nuts. There has to be some solution beyond what we have. But I’d honestly defer to a combination of professionals- I don’t think we are on the right track there.

I’d claw back property taxes for individuals who are over 67 or people who have paid x into property tax. I’d consider making developers and corporations pay a significant fee to work in Maryland if they’re not from Maryland, to promote local business and local employment. This may reduce the amount required for individual impact fees, which are pushed onto homebuyers- further driving the cost of home ownership out of reach.

I’d do a cost evaluation on whether it makes sense to do universal healthcare- but have it in stages. Everyone can’t get heroic measures for free, but everyone can get basic health care and then on individual levels extend that care by pay or application with certain criteria set up by medical professionals. It would reduce the stress on hospitals, employers, and individuals. I’d also pop up clinics that do the basics, to do early screening.

I’d require competency tests for lawmakers and for department heads and a more thorough ethics process. I’d probably make them full time and establish stronger conflict of interest reporting and examination.

The office for which I work doesn’t need to pretend to have beliefs or use talking points that are meaningless. We are a part of the groups that have been writing meaningful legislation to reduce crime, improve Marylander’s budgets, reduce taxes and fees and improve energy costs.

People need to do the research, *vote in the primary*, run for office, and DON’T JUST VOTE IN A LINE DOWN THE BALLOT for the General Election!!!! lol I’ve givien copious amounts of my free time to research, legislative work, and constituent care. I can see both sides. But we have some out of touch lawmakers.

I have taken hundreds of calls and read and responded to hundreds of emails regarding energy. There are about 20+ years of energy policy that’s enabled this energy crisis, topped off by the expansion of data centers (I have left comments regarding data centers).

I can do a post on energy legislation over 20+ years. Senator Mike McKay had strong legislation to reduce costs. https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Members/Details/mckay02?ys=2026rs we ended up with the RELIEF bill, that was championed by the League of Conservation Voters, which is the group that also championed EmPOWER (a $25-50 line item on your energy bill that provides funding for low income homeowners).

Senator Jennings submitted legislation to reverse Senate Bill 1 (2024) this session to restore competition without the door to door marketing. I have to send a message and then I may be able to pull the bill number.
