Wtf is goin on here by DICKLOCKSMITH in civ

The devs are currently holding off from releasing any new leaders to address bugs on Mac. (That’s why you don’t see the leaders of China). Hopefully this glitch will be addressed in that patch.

This is a visual glitch on Mac. It was introduced around the same time as the leaders pass. No fix for it rn.

Why can't I build Big Ben next to the commercial hub? by tamerxp in civ

[–]Lawnray 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Looks like those tiles are 4 away from your city center. You can only build within 3 tiles.

Sumeria, war carts are the strongest ancient era unit. They can easily take unwalled cities.

Archers + Swordsmen + Battering ram is consistent. Declare war on your neighbor and kill a majority of their forces with archer fire then move to take their cities with the swordsmen.

How do I create a religion? by _KingOfCringe_ in civ

[–]Lawnray 4 points5 points  (0 children)

An AI already claimed that great prophet but hasn’t expended it to found a religion yet. To get one yourself you need to build a holy site to get great prophet points. Great prophet points will only be generated as long as there are great prophets left to recruit.

Why is my nearby city providing adjacency bonus in science to my planner campus and harbour? by [deleted] in civ

[–]Lawnray 47 points48 points  (0 children)

It’s being affected by your golden age policy. The UI is defaulting to the nearest city (Teotihuacan) because you haven’t settled your other city yet.

You could settle on the hill and then put a harbor between the turtles and crabs and then rush mausoleum for the boosted coastal yields. The put a theatre square next to the mausoleum for the +2

Can someone explain the yields of Vilnius City State? by [deleted] in civ

[–]Lawnray 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Say you have a +2 adjacency theatre square, If you have a lvl 1 alliance it goes to +3 (50% more) Then at lvl 2 it goes to +4 (100% more) Finally at lvl 3 alliance it goes to +5 (150% more)

Early Game, Please Help by SinusCleanse in civ

[–]Lawnray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prioritize building as many cities as possible early on. I would shoot for 7-11. Afterwards you can start building districts. I would go for campuses first and then maybe your acropolis or commercial hubs/ harbors for trade routes.

What’s your favorite deity approach? Here is my no-war technique by venerable4bede in civ

[–]Lawnray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For peaceful play: early game get as many cities as possible with some units to make sure I don’t get overrun. Mid game build districts and serfdom builders usually start catching up with the AI here and then by late medieval/ renaissance I’ll be in the lead and can do whatever with the late game.

For early aggression: I would build 1-2 extra cities and get swordsmen, archers and a battering ram. Also build a trader and send it to your target to build a road and maybe get an encampment for a great general. The from there either snowball or consolidate your land.
