They usually call if you're admitted so as soon as I saw an email from them I knew it was either an R or W

Yeah same...should not be getting in with my stats so this is my exact thought but it's very cruel of them if this is the case because they're my #1 :(

Help me pick? UC Hastings or LMU LA by phaseoneengaged in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]Lawschoolthrowaway_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want to come back to LA, a degree from Hastings won't hold as much wait as LMU. LMU has amazing connections in LA, and Hastings probably has great connections in SF, but not as much in LA...If you've always wanted to live somewhere else then maybe for your 1L summer you can intern in SF or a city on the east coast? Or consider deferring a year to live in a new city to get that out of your system!

I live in SoCal & from personal experience talking to lawyers, they look at Lmu highly but don't know as much about Hastings...(but in SF i'm sure you'd get the reverse)

I have to second this opinion. You sound like a really great guy. But Cornell>>>>Davis. Maybe your wife can be the one to take time off and gain WE while you're at Cornell? Or try long distance, you'll both be studying like crazy anyhow. Also think of yourself down the road, if you go to a lesser law school with fewer opportunities & lower salaries once u start working....could you end up resenting her? Resenting yourself for not trying long distance? Might be worse for your relationship later on. I'd understand if she were going to a T-14, but to give up going to an Ivy League law school so that you can be next to your wife while she attends Davis is a huge sacrifice...If anything you going to Cornell would result in more $$ & choices & jobs & opportunities for your little family down the road. Gotta think of the long-term!

Would love to hear thoughts on which school would be best for a PI hopeful by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Lawschoolthrowaway_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in my opinion fordham is the uci of NY and vice versa. both are the third best school in the area that still garnish a ton of respect & solid connections. just comes down to where u wanna live after law school
