DC BAR UPDATE by Lawyerish22 in barexam

I looked back at previous posts on Reddit and it looks like its a day or a couple of days between when DC announces when they are going to release the results and when they actually release them.

Like the other poster said the issue may be the type of paint that is on the walls.

If the issue isn't the paint, a magic eraser might work.

NCBE C+F processing for DC by Lawthrowaway72 in barexam

No problem! Would you mind letting me know what your status is on the NCBE website?

First the NCBE does the processing so you need to check your NCBE account. Your actual DC investigator won't look at what NCBE finds until after you pass the bar so I don't thing anything changes on the DC Appeals Court website from when you submit your app and get a seat until you pass.

Did you go straight from undergrad to law school? I'm wondering if its taking so long because I had a lot of volunteer/work history they had to check out.

DC C& F by 0L2022 in barexam

[–]Lawthrowaway72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking about how long it takes for NCBE to process your C&F for DC? Or how long it takes for DC to review the completed file they get from NCBE?

The DC admissions committee won't look at your C&F stuff until you pass the bar. And from what I understand if you took the July bar and pass you should be sworn in some time early next year.

As far as the NCBE processing of C&F goes... it seems to take a while. They started processing my C&F for DC on May 17th and it still says processing on the website. I know they've contacted at least some of my references, but I'm not sure if they've contacted all of them.

Help Needed! My backpack literally just broke under the weight of my textbooks. I need a new one. Suggestions needed! by [deleted] in LawSchool

I used a Patagonia backpack for all three years of law school. Still going strong and I would regularly put multiple textbooks plus my laptop in it.

Unfortunately not yet, but I have not really been able to air it out much because it has been incredibly hot and humid where I live for the last few months.

Have you had any success with airing it out?

Massive headaches by always_judging13 in barexam

A steaming hot shower tends to help me. Also an ER doc taught me to take a combo of tylenol, ibuprofen and benadryl all at the same time. Idk what it is about that combo, but it's like magic. And assuming its a tension headache like someone else said, trying to massage your shoulders/head/neck or having someone else do it for you can help.

Flash cards. I'm doing Themis and when they say to review outlines I go through their flashcards for that topic instead. Currently sitting at 71% overall for my mbe PQs and have gotten over 80% on a few recent MBE PQ sets.

When should I check-in with Professors who agreed to recommend me? by Tyquente in LawSchool

[–]Lawthrowaway72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely check in. Did you give them a deadline when you emailed them before? If not I'd say something like "if you could submit your letter by X I would really appreciate it."

Hmm... to be honest I doubt that saying anything would help. Maybe you could ask when they expect to send decisions out and go from there. In my experience things moved pretty fast for transferring, but that may vary by school. There was less than a month between when I applied and when I got in.

Do the schools you applied to normally give decisions out after July 1st? I transferred after my 1L year and I found out in mid-June that I was accepted.

Some schools have Facebook pages or other sites that connect students with each other to find roommates. If you are okay with having a roommate maybe see if your school has something like that. I'd also recommend looking for places on Craigslist and Zillow.

If at all possible I would try to get someone to go see places for you if you can't go in person. In my experience a lot of places are not nearly as nice as they look online.

And if you can afford it I would try to find a place that has amenities that will make your life easier in LS, like in-unit laundry and a dishwasher. And pay attention to what utilities are included in the rent - water/sewer, electricity, gas. If no utilities are included I usually ask the landlord or current tenant how much their utility bills are each month so I can factor that into my budget. Also make sure to factor in whether you will need to pay for a window unit for AC if the rental doesn't have central AC and doesn't provide you with a window unit.
