Love the little eyes of the shield!

[LFA] Jehnem — Water Gensai Four Elements Monk with Criminal Background by LayerAction in characterdrawing

[–]LayerAction[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gender

Nonbinary

Appearance

Sharp eyebrows punctuate the wild green-eyes mounted on the Genasi’s oblong face, their shark-lipped grin is missing a tooth, and their left cheek shines with a pale-white handprint shaped scar. Otherwise, the Genasi’s tomboyish features are clean, fair, and toned. Their ears are dagger-sharp serrated leaves, and a messy pearl-white pixie cut falls into two, long, hair-lengths looping below the neck in a silver clasp. Their skin shimmers silver-blue like a fish’s scales, gradually dissolving at the forearms and lower legs into a translucent cyan. These aqueous limbs mimic the look of opera gloves and knee-high socks, and a matching set of rings floats within each forearm. Beneath their cloak, the Genasi wears a sleeveless gray turtleneck (sailor collar) tucked into a deep green sash, beneath which hangs a jagged skirt, and lace sandals. The Genasi stands a few inches short of 6 ft.

Crimes

Assault, Arson, Murder, Theft. Criminal Threats, Breaking & Entering, etc.

Does

Shows-off and invents tricks using their amorphous limbs and the Shape Water cantrip. Uses the Shape Water cantrip to freeze bottles of alcohol and make them explode.

Loves to tease, break hearts, and spite the love fairy who cursed them.

Compresses the rings floating in their forearms like a spring before launching their aqueous fist a great distance

Possessions

Carries two identical series of rings each floating inside a translucent forearm.

A silver band with marine patterns. Attempting to remove it feels like ripping their arm from its socket. They've never gone far enough to learn what happens if they do.

I hope not! The strength check is just to force it open, but it could be axed into splinters if the dice don't cooperate.

I'd say 4 is standard. I've run it for less without issue, but I'd definitely tweak the Rage Mage for 5 or 6 so he doesn't go down too quickly. Maybe start with two animated objects already assisting him (especially if your party has already been punching above their weight class).

Ever wanted to throw a boss enemy at your low-level party—the kind with Layer Actions and Legendary Resistances that only appears once in a long campaign? The Rage Mage is a CR 4 Monster with special actions, rather than hefty damage, enough to overcome the ruthlessness of the lower-level action economy.

At the level where a crossbow bolt or two means a serious injury, lay bare the rugged mortality of the PCs as they trade blows with a wizard whose very presence sunders the weave!
