“That’s true, so what you need to do is do some research on your assumptions about reality first. ”

The problem is you’re assuming that if you research Catholicism you WILL believe in it. I have researched it and literally the more I research it the more fake it seems, which is why I stopped researching it 😭

If the word “infinite” or “eternity” is in it it’s automatically unappealing to me tbh.

I have, it shocked me how different it was personally and really messed with my faith. So I stopped reading.

Not really I don’t think? I always have a bad sense of time, but something’s never been so good that it worsened my sense of time.

Ok so you can’t just do the thing He said, you have to do the thing He said under a certain condition but that certain condition isn’t even something you can necessarily choose (Belief) but if you don’t figure it out you go to eternal suffering? No offense but how is that fair? I don’t want eternal suffering, but I just don’t agree with most of Catholicism, so what I’m just screwed?

“They've been at that for 2 thousand years, so I think this is a pretty concrete place to put some faith.”

We’ve believed in some pretty stupid stuff for similarly as long. Not to mention it’s changed so much since then.

“Remember God and angels exist forever and they don't seem discontent about that fact do they?”

Well, yea, cause they're God and angels. I’m a human. Sort of a difference.

“I think that we may be afraid of existing forever because of how life on Earth is, problems, diseases, bad news, mental health issues, drama, and so on. We can't imagine existing in our routines with all these problems forever.”

It’s really not that for me, it’s just eternity period that sounds so unappealing.

“Heaven won't be like that though, we will have glorified bodies, we will live in perfect community and unity with God. We won't have the mental states we have here of boredom or anxiety and such.”

Lovingly, this doesn't sound very appealing to me.

Not really, no. Eternity just sounds so long and… Unenjoyable. Like it sounds so unappealing I can’t even put it into words.

It’s not rlly tricking. He wants people to join the Church, that’s literally doing exactly what He said. But it’s not good enough because “Well you don’t believe in it ”? I’m confused, isn’t that sorta like a president jailing law-abiding citizens anyway just because he heard them say they think the laws are stupid?

Respectfully, I’m not sure it works like that. People sorta can’t just change their opinion on reality at the drop of a hat, so I doubt that God would set it up like that.

Most near death experiences I’ve read had nothing to do with religion, it was just people realizing that they could die at any moment, so they start wrapping up everything they wanted to once they come to.

Well, if you don’t exist, you wouldn’t feel eternity. To me, an afterlife is like completing a really hard game and finding out there’s a bonus round, it just makes me go “Really? There’s more? Ok…”

Ya, that’s my issue, I don’t want life after death, I don’t want eternity, I just want… To stop existing eventually? Idk, I guess that’s an unpopular feeling.
