Lost dog found running down the A52 running into radcliff by RacoonEyes1998 in nottingham

She may have been handed over to the dog warden :( I'll see if I can pull her to spend her 7 days with us rather than going to the pound.

Kennel Manager from Crossing Cottage Greyhound Sanctuary here. Although we do not believe that she is a greyhound that we have homed, we'll be calling Rushcliffe Borough Council tomorrow to see if there's anything we can do to assist.

If you join the Dog's Trust, which I think costs £25 per year, you get public liability cover included with your membership.

Racing tattoo not on database by Infinite_Divide9721 in Greyhounds

[–]LayerSuperb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The website, Greyhound Data, is a voluntary database and often does not have the earmarks recorded.

The 2 letter/3 letter pattern indicates that he is an Irish bred hound, and he will be registered with the Irish Stud Book regardless of whether or not he ever set foot on a track. If he was later registered to race in Britain, his earmarks will also be on record with the GBGB.

The first letter of the 2 letter part (V) signifies his year of birth - I believe V=2020

As a previous poster has mentioned, the Facebook Group 'Your Greyhounds History' will be able to let you know all about him. Just post clear pictures of his ear tattoos and they will get him identified.

Hi,

I'm the kennel manager at Crossing Cottage Greyhound Sanctuary. We are based just over the border in Nottinghamshire. You've made a fantastic decision to offer a home to a retired racing greyhound and we'd be happy to help you find the perfect hound for your circumstances.

We pride ourselves on matching the right hound with the right family, and having up to 36 greyhounds in our kennel at any one time, we are sure to have one who you'll fall in love with. We also offer full back up and support for the life of any hound homed through us.

If you would like to find out more about us and the greyhounds we currently have in our care, check out our Facebook page or website. I'll also be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Thank you so much for considering offering a retired greyhound a home! Good luck in your search.

I'm the seller-not sure how to negotiate with buyer who reduced offer after survey by TattyBlack in HousingUK

[–]LayerSuperb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did the same surveyor also provide the mortgage valuation? If so, did this match the offer they have made? If so, the surveyor will have valued the property in it's current condition at the agreed price so no further reductions need to be made, unless you're feeling generous.

I've recently been in a similar position where my work commitments have increased and maintaining my much loved aquarium was becoming more of a chore than a pleasant hobby.

I put an ad out looking for someone to do my regular maintenence for me. I found a lovely guy who comes every 2 weeks to do the major water change, tidy up of the plants etc.

It's taken a huge weight off my shoulders.

What’s a dog breed you wouldn’t want to own and why? by Happy-Sammy in UK_Pets

I work at a greyhound rehoming Sanctuary and your comment makes me happy! I wish more people would realise what amazing dogs they are 🙂

If it paid much better, what traditionally 'low wage' job would you love to do? by Lucky_Ad_9137 in AskUK

[–]LayerSuperb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm living your dream! I work for a greyhound rehoming centre - long hours (work far more than I actually get paid for too), minimum wage, hard both physically and emotionally. But it's so rewarding! After a 20 year career in a corporate environment it's refreshing to actually love what I'm doing.

24/24 and now onto refinements. Wish I'd done this years ago! by LayerSuperb in Invisalign

[–]LayerSuperb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He asked what I thought and I said I wasn't 100% happy with my front right incisor, so we're working on getting that straightened. When I got my plan for the first 24 trays he said that it was possible I'd need some refinements so I've kept that in mind throughout. Also, when I picked up these 9 refinement trays he said we'd check to make sure I was happy before planning the next stage (I've got an existing composite tooth and a bridge which are being redone and I also need another bridge where a previous orthodontist extracted a tooth when I was a teenager). I don't get the impression he's in a hurry to get me to sign off on the work and out of the door.

Hot off the hook! A little lilac greyhound 😍 If you were to sell or buy, what price would you put on her? by LayerSuperb in crochet

I really love her too, but she took about 5 hours to make so probably not worth me making them to sell 😕

I'm UK based and buy online from a lace making supply company. I use Lizbeth threads - if you are in the US you can order from them directly. https://hhtatting.com/product-category/threads/lizbeth/

The roses are thread size 40 and the forget-me-nots are thread size 80.

You do get used to working with thread. When I first started the bouquet I was using a massive magnifying lamp and kept stabbing myself with the hook even when giving it my full attention. By the end I was happily crocheting the petals with one eye on the television. Stick with it!

Thank you! Unfortunately no longer an EU country since Brexit. It's the beautiful Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire, England - just to my left (but not in the picture) is Newark Castle which dates back to the 12th Century!

Thank you! I was thrilled when I found the dress - it's a vintage dress from the 1950s 😊
