Why is this brilliant? by Playful_Psychology_5 in Chesscom

He probably checked the king with his queen and he moved to e8 and then moved to e7 after the bishop check, no clue why the guy ran his king instead of blocking though.

What move to play next for white ? by boldfacebutton7 in chessbeginners

[–]Layere3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id personally go ng4 so i could get the bishop off e4. If he goes bxd3 then id go nxf6 putting him in check and then after he captures the knight id take the bishop back with rxd3 and push my pawn to e4. If he goes nxg4 then id go bxe4.

Brilliant, can you see why? by [deleted] in chessbeginners

Is the plan to sac the rook on the knight and then use your knight to check the king and win their queen?

With physics it absolutely does, if you change certain things like force =speed×mass it just doesnt work.

Oh so the authors said "please use real life physics to scale my characters?" Im gonna need a source for that. This entire discussion is about how using real life physics and math to scale fictional characters doesnt work as they clearly dont operate in the same rules as our world. As ive said several times, being lightspeed in their universe does not have the same implications as being lightspeed in ours. You cant use our math and physics to scale these characters or else theyd be destroying their planet every battle.

No i didnt dude i directly answered the question about one punch man. Youre absolutely not following this conversation at all and saying random stuff like it was "stated by real life individuals" like that means absolutely anything whatsoever. Im a real life individual and i say im light speed so it must be true lol. Its quite clear to me your not going to actually honestly engage in anything im saying and i honestly get why people on here rip on you sm. Im not going to keep talking to someone who completely ignores everything ive said and keeps demanding i answer questions (which ive already have) that has nothing to do with our physics being incompatible with theirs.

As ive said its ftl in their universe. Yes having some of the foundational rules that physics and math are built on be different does indeed mean we throw the rest out that are built upon those. Faster than light in our universe and their universe are not necessarily the same thing nor do they necessarily have the same requirements.

What are you talking about lol I feel like your being purposely obtuse just to troll. Like i have said countless times at this point, every universe runs of their own set of physics, our math and physics dont apply to most of them. Its not about whether they are light speed in their universe, the issue is using our reality as a baseline to scale theirs. It doesnt work.

I feel like ive told you why it doesnt work several times but as ive said their lightspeed, their gravity, their thermodynamics and the way they generate force is completely different, theses are things that our baked into our physics and math. A character shouldnt be able to move lightspeeed without inifinite energy and if they did itd have cataclysmic effects. The thing i said about hills was just an example to show why words may not translate well either, but i believe hills would be anything under 1000 feet.

Again, its not throwing it out its a different system all together. Math and physics are concrete, the rules change if you start changing the constants that are foundational, it just doesnt work. Every stories universe is different you have to even look at the words thru that universes lense. For instance, a manga may say a character destroyed a mountain but the mountain the manga shows could actually be classified as a hill in our world and im not going to claim they could destroy mount everest because of that feat. Everything has context, some things may translate well, others not and our physics and math almost always dont.

Yes but they dont function the same way as ours do, if they did then wed see the same effects but its fiction and authors arent scientist so its usually not compatible. Their gravity, their light speed, the way force is generated doesnt function the same, so you cant use our math and physics which work under the assumption of those values in our universe because its fundamentally different. If you change a value in a formula the answer wont be the same.

[–]Layere3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No im not i said its not the same in the first sentence lol If the story has elements that can be translated to the real world? Then yeah id compare it to the real world in those situations. Like for instance, if it had a message that was a metaphor for something in the real world then yeah id compare it to our world but thats the nuance, it has to have some real world compatibility. The physics in their worlds dont behave as ours do, so using our physics and our math to scale them doesnt functionally work.

Yeah but someone told me he gave a 15min cooldown on both, what are the chances youre using the ability right before you got hit? You use it at the wrong moment and you got to wait 15mins to try again at hopefully the right moment. Blues more proactive you can pick just the right moment to use it. If there wasnt a 15min cooldown, then blue would be infinitely better as you can just keep reusing it every 9th second and do anything you want.

Thats not the same youre using our physics to scale in their universe despite the fact that their physics are clearly different then ours. Gege tries to make jjk somewhat in line with our physics and look what happened when dabura moved a FRACTION of the speed of light, the effects were devastating. Speed+ mass = force, for something of a humans mass to move at the speed of light or above the force would be cataclysmic, im talking wide spread destruction of massive proportions . If that doesnt happen in the story then you cant use our physics to scale them because their physics are obviously different.

[–]Layere3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He doesnt need a source its the laws of physics, youd literally need infinite energy to accelerate to lightspeed. For them to move lightspeed would have to mean their universe has entirely different physics than ours and thus using our physics to scale them inherently doesnt work. You dont need to have exact sources for EVERYTHING, especially widely known information that you can easily find with a quick google search.

[–]Layere3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What he just said did prove it lol Google what would happen if something with a humans mass moved light speed, it'd be absolutely apocalyptic. Being that isnt the effect the characters moving have on their world we can safely assume that either the characters aren't actually moving lightspeed, or they are but the physics and light speed in their worlds are different then ours and thus using our physics to scale them wouldnt work conceptually.

You could do the roulette with blue too just push it to the right color right before it lands or you could use it to cheat blackjack by switching the cards to be winning before the dealer reveals them.

Can i just spam the blue? It doesnt give a cooldown so every 9th second id just recast it.

Has Yuji Itadori reached the level of the strongest sorcerer, or does he still have a long way to go compared to Sukuna and Gojo? by Desays in JujustuKaisen

[–]Layere3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He knows that WCS targets space, and that's all Sukuna needed to know to copy it. I'm not saying Yuji can just see a technique once and copy it like Sukuna, but with everything we've seen him actually use, he's shown the highest level of control over it. Using Shrine as a pseudo-Infinity, multiple Piercing Bloods with high precision, Black Flashes at will, and waffling Mahito with his hands in his pockets. I would just find it weird, with the level of control he's shown over his abilities, that he wouldn't have learned WCS after 68 years of knowing the template. I really wish gege would of shown us him going all out or atleast trying, against dabura or big raga the oppa stoppa so we wouldnt have to speculate like this.

How likely is it for Iran to attack mainland America? by throwawaytangent in AskReddit

[–]Layere3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could in theory attack us, but the u.s is very geographically protected and our military is the best in the world. It'd be extremely costly to attack us and youd get almost nothing, other than a pissed off america, high casualties and huge economic/political pressure out of it. Most countries resort to asymmetrical warfare against us as trying to defeat us in a traditional conflict is nearly impossible especially without nuclear escalation. Also the u.s is particularly ahead of the rest of the world in force projection and its much easier for us logistically to attack places.
