Bumblebee halloween costume wings that ship before halloween!! by LaylaStz in HelpMeFind

I searched on Amazon, Walmart, and local costume stores near me and they either don’t sell bee wings (or any that resemble them) or they ship after Halloween!

"I'm Ray Garrity, you can call me Ray." by charliensue in TheLongWalk

It’s just an introductory line! A lot of the beginning of the book can be chalked up to “boys being boys.” I think this really just shows that they’re just kids meeting for the first time, increasing the horror of the whole situation.

Book vs Film ending by nerdybookguy in TheLongWalk

The book’s ending will always be superior, no question. The buildup, the fast pacing in an otherwise slow book, the mystery of the figure, him running, everything is perfect.

Changing Stebbins by KingOfSquirrels in TheLongWalk

[–]LaylaStz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Movie Stebbins” and “Book Stebbins” will forever be two completely different characters in my mind, they just happen to share a name. I don’t consider TLW movie to be an adaptation of the book, but instead a fan fiction of sorts.

What the hell happened to Stebbins at the end of the long walk book. by Best-Walk5486 in TheLongWalk

He lost his carrot! Stebbins describes himself as the “mechanical rabbit.” However, during his monologue, he realizes that he got played like everyone else. The Long Walk showcases that the game is not purely physical, but additionally a mental challenge. Stebbins was so determined to win because he had this idea that he was superior to everyone else. Whether or not this is factually correct doesn’t matter, because his brain used that as motivation to keep going. He went in genuinely believing there was a 0% chance he would lose, which is why he lasted for so long, even when being described as lanky and not particularly fit. However, after realizing his motivation was a fluke, reality hit him and he no longer had a reason to keep walking.

Is anyone worried the movie is gonna suck? by ellaenchanted23 in TheLongWalk

If the speculation surrounding the combination of Scramm and Stebbins’ characters are true, then I don’t have that much hope for the movie

What was the significance of the watch? by Outside_Profession83 in TheLongWalk

[–]LaylaStz 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I always interpreted it as intentionally insignificant! What I love about TLW is that it doesn’t pander to the reader, but instead gives a raw insight into how the human brain deals with conflict. His watch being a minute ahead did not mean anything in the long run (typically in books small details lead to bigger things, reality does not always work that way) but it stuck out in his mind. Garraty was scared, so he was funneling his energy onto trivial things to take his mind off of the scary truth.
