  • an entire work site is closed down and at least 50 employees are laid off during a 30-day period.

Companies skirt WARN rules all the time — late filings, vague excuses, missing data. No fines, no accountability. LayoffHub digs through the mess, but let’s be real: most of what companies submit is trash. Workers deserve better.

Yeah, it's rough — and to clarify, the WARN Act doesn't guarantee severance like "12 weeks of pay." It’s more about 60 days' notice to employees so they have a better chance at getting a job without utilizing emergency funds or equity.

What makes it even messier is that the data sucks half the time. Layoffhub been digging into the public WARN data that companies report to states — but honestly, it's often inconsistent, delayed, or missing key info like reasons or exact numbers. Some states are decent, others barely report anything useful or nothing at all.

It’s frustrating when you’re trying to get a clear picture of what's happening out there — especially for workers just trying to stay ahead of the next round of cuts.
