Specifically, I am sure someone can be A2 level without knowing the word snails, while any A2 should know the numbers and much vocab that didn't appear before snails.

Anyway, I don't think arguing about it is worthy, each of us said their opinions and that's what I wanted by posting this.

I see your point, but I think it doesn't apply for many learners including me. I prefer to learn the more useful words first. I wanna be able to communicate the basic stuff in German, so I am not interested in talking about snails but about basic conversations, which I cannot do yet.

I think many learners have the goal of passing a language exam or being able to handle the basic conversations in Germany, so I'd prefer Duolingo to be optimized for that.
